South Orange-Maplewood Adult School | 17 Parker Avenue, Maplewood

The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School, or SOMAS, offers over 150 courses and lectures for all adult ages in a variety of many categories including business and finance, creative arts, culinary arts, home and garden, and more. SOMAS was founded in the Great Depression era of 1933 and was committed (+ still is to this day) to providing educational and recreational classes to the community at prices that people could afford. Toni’s Kitchen | 73 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair

Everyone deserves to have access to food. Toni’s Kitchen, a food ministry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair, is helping ensure that everyone in the community has just that. Toni’s Kitchen relies on the help of volunteers for food prep, serving, packing healthy food bags, driving, and pickups and deliveries. Bloomfield Animal Shelter | 61 Bukowski Place, Bloomfield

We know that you Virgos have a soft spot in your heart for animals — we do, too. Bloomfield Animal Shelter is a volunteer-based organization that relies on the help of donations and providing basic care for the animals. Volunteer opportunities include working with the dogs and cats, facility maintenance, and much out-of-facility volunteering work including photography, marketing and PR, and transportation.
