Macarons are a delicacy in the dessert world. The tiny cookies, similar to whoopie pies, are incredibly difficult to make, as the texture and meringue base is hard to achieve. The French desserts are bite-sized and savory, the perfect way to satisfy a sweet tooth. Luckily, there are several places in the Montclair area that offer both single macarons and boxes of them, so sweet tooths can be satisfied in a variety of flavors. Check out our list of where to get a delicious macaron in Essex County below.

Luciano Calandra founded this bakery in 1962, and his family has operated it ever since. With three locations across the state, Calandra’s has a variety of sweet desserts, including macarons. Flavors vary depending on the day and the location, but all of them function as a sweet finale to the fresh olive oils, sauces, pasta, and wine the bakery makes at its Italian vineyard. Macarons pair well with the family’s coffee line, too.
