Many gluten-free people know the struggle of finding delicious gluten-free brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and other desserts. Luckily, numerous North Jersey bakeries are now stocked full of gluten-free options, but finding fully gluten-free bakeries might be a challenge. Yet, there is no need to worry about cross-contamination, because there isn’t a crumb of gluten in any of the places we have rounded up. Annie & Em’s | 155 3rd Street, Hoboken

In 2018, two sisters with a sweet tooth had a desire for gluten-free goods — and Annie & Em’s was born. The scrumptious cake, cookies, brownies, bars, and breads are freshly baked. The savory baguettes, focaccia, and rolls are all excellent, and ideal for a sandwich or to dip into soup. It also has vegan and dairy-free options.

Bradley Bake Shop | 55 B River Road, Bogota

The options at Bradley Bake Shop are endless. Eleanor Bradley and her team have crafted every cupcake, pie, and brownie beautifully and without gluten. Not only does Bradley Bake have baked pastries and desserts, but it also has waffles, empanadas, and chicken pot pie.

Busy Bee Organics | 451 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City

Not only does Busy Bee have fresh baked goods, but it also offers sandwiches, pasta, and soups. While all of the options are gluten-free, many of them are vegan as well as soy-, dairy-, and nut-free. Busy Bee Organics has weekly meal delivery services to Jersey City, Hoboken, Union City, Weehawken, Montclair, Livingston, West Orange, and Verona, as well as a pickup option. On top of this, it changes its menu weekly, so each week is a brand new surprise.

Chez – The Gelato & Pastry Shop | 206 Centennial Avenue, Cranford

From pignoli to anisette cookies and every biscotti in between, Owner Chez Somma has crafted these gluten-free Italian desserts without compromising flavor. The smell of freshly made brownies, muffins, and tarts could draw anyone into the shop. Its pastries are beautifully paired with the handmade gelato or sorbet — as well as one of the drink options.

Papa Ganache | 106 N Union Avenue, Cranford

Just a five-minute walk from the Cranford Train Station, this fully vegan and gluten-free bakery is the place to go for a quick bite or lunch. The blueberry French toast muffin or a loaf cake are great ways to go. Papa Ganache has so many options and sizes to choose from. For lunch, it has penne vodka, stuffed riceballs, mac n’ cheese, and so much more. It also has locations in Matawan and Manasquan.

Isaura Bakery | 204 Diamond Bridge Avenue, Hawthorne

Isaura Bakery has so many options to choose from. At this Hawthorne shop,  we recommend a blueberry tart — but Isaura also has delivery for those who don’t want to or aren’t able to make the trek out. For the last six years, Isaura has created seasonal baked goods, custom cakes, bagels, and even pizza without gluten for all to enjoy.

Mo’Pweeze | 32 Broadway, Denville

Located in the heart of Downtown Denville, Mo’Pweeze has everything when it comes to baked goods. Every item from the Linzer tarts to the challah bread is totally free of gluten and the top 10 allergens — it’s also all Kosher. Mo’Pweeze also makes elaborate custom cakes for all occasions.

Plum Bakery | 179 Glenridge Avenue, Montclair

Whether it’s Saint Valentine, Saint Patrick, or Saint Joseph’s Day, Plum Bakery in Montclair has something for the occasion. From doughnuts to breads and cookies, it has anything anyone can think of and more. The menu varies from season to season, featuring a variety of different goods. Their apple cider donuts this coming fall are not to be missed. Plum Bakery also has online cooking classes for budding bakers.

Starseed Bakery | 100 Hibernia Avenue, Rockaway

The choices at Starseed Bakery in Rockaway are outta this world. With a dessert for every season and holiday, there’s no way to get bored here. Linda Beg and her team make it a point to provide those with a gluten intolerance with great-tasting breads, cookies, and pies. Stopping by here to grab something sweet ensures your day will be even sweeter.

TasteBuddy | 515 A Millburn Avenue, Millburn

With such an expansive menu, TasteBuddy is a place that requires visiting more than once. The almond apricot biscotti or a slice of the dulce de leche pound cake are excellent choices, especially when paired with a chai latte. Your taste bud(dy)s will thank you. It also has fruit-filled bowls drizzled with peanut butter or Nutella and topped with sliced fruit. Some are even topped with star-shaped fruit like the TasteBuddy OG and Born This Way bowls.

Two Fields Bake Shop | 267 Main Avenue, Stirling

Two Fields Bake Shop has a brick-and-mortar location in Stirling, but it also has delivery right to your door anywhere in the country. Everything in this zero-waste, certified gluten-free, nut-free, peanut-free, and sesame-free wholesale bakery is curated by French-trained pastry chef Nick and his team. From its Irish soda bread to its custom-made cakes, diners are sure to love it. Just a heads up, this location will be moving to Berkeley Heights sometime in the future.

WHOS Gluten Free | 483 NJ-17, Paramus

Since 2013, Steph has been baking and selling her gluten-free creations at WHOS Gluten Free. The shop is decked out with owl-themed decor from pillows to figurines, which add to the cozy feel. The cookie platters and jelly-filled doughnuts will satisfy your sweet tooth while the signature bagels are perfect for a Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese.
