The Montclair Jazz Festival is back for 2022 at Lackawanna Plaza in Montclair — and this weekend is the final event. With a history that dates back to 2010, Jazz House Kids have been hosting these events each year. The family-friendly events have taken place on various streets around downtown Montclair and included a variety of musical performances. This final event, which will take place on September 10th from 1PM to 9PM, will include a Downtown Jamboree with two headliner stages on Lackawanna Plaza and Park Street. The Details
This year’s festival, hosted by Jazz House Kids and presenting sponsor BDP Holdings, included four jazz-themed events between July 13th and September 10th, all leading up to the Downtown Jamboree on that day. This final event will feature two headliner stages on Lackawanna Plaza and Park Street, two street stages featuring Jazz House alumni bands, a food and artisan marketplace, and more. Beach and lawn chairs are welcome at the festival.

There will be over 200 artists and 45 musical acts involved, and it is being directed and curated by Grammy award winner and Jazz House Kids artistic director Christian McBride, according to Montclair Local News. The associate producer will be Ted Chubb, a well-known Jazz artist, singer, and trumpeter. In addition to all of the music, the Montclair Jazz Festival will also include food trucks, a beverage garden, and BBQ food from local spot Pineapple Express.

About Jazz House Kids
Located at 347 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, Jazz House Kids is the only community arts organization in New Jersey exclusively dedicated to educating children ages 8-18 through jazz. Both in-person and online classes are available here. The organization aims to ensure that every student has access to music, education, mentoring, and apprenticeship. Jazz House Kids participate in over 80 performances each year, and are the founders of the Montclair Jazz Festival.
