Joint venture partners Ironstate Development Company and Brookfield Properties announced the new tenants for the first three retail and office operators setting up shop at the partnership’s mixed-use development in Downtown Montclair. Among the new businesses will be the popular indoor rock climbing building, The Gravity Vault; the One River School; and Summit Medical Group. The Project
The expansion of The Gravity Vault into Montclair comes as an ongoing effort to foster a fun, cultural, and community-involved lifestyle, furthering the city’s reputation as a hub for the arts.
The development includes 1 Seymour Plaza, the apartment community Two South Willow, and the Wellmont Arts Plaza that will feature residential units, retail, office space, art space, and public parking to create vibrant art and entertainment district centered around the historic Wellmont Theater.
“One River School, The Gravity Vault, and Summit Medical Group will complement the dynamic lineup of arts, entertainment, fitness, and community services we’re curating to echo Montclair’s unique character and appeal,” said David Barry, CEO of Hoboken-based Ironstate Development Company via the press release. “Montclair is well known for tastefully blending local merchants with high-profile brands, and we plan on partnering with businesses who share our vision for community building, a desire to enhance residents’ daily lives, and will attract new visitors to the township.”

About The Gravity Vault

The well-known indoor rock climbing company has a location in Hoboken at 1423 Clinton Street. Fret not if your rock climbing experience is minimal: the space caterers to rock climbers of all ages and abilities. Gravity Vault’s climbing space is a unique experience and killer workout for anyone who enjoys trying new things.
The Hoboken location has drawn in residents from surrounding cities, including Montclair, over the years making it a no-brainer to set up its 11th location there.
Started in 2005, Gravity Vault offers memberships, instruction, private climbing sessions, parties, camps, competitive climbing teams, and more. Each facility is custom-designed, and the gym’s 12,000 square-foot Montclair space will be the first facility for the brand dedicated purely to bouldering.

Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that is done on shorter walls that are scaled without ropes or harnesses. The facility is geared toward climbers of all experience levels. The facility also includes a yoga area, a boutique fitness gym, a group exercise area, and an expanded retail shop.
“Montclair is an amazing community, and we are excited to finally have found the perfect space and partner to open our facility with. We view our facilities as community centers, rooted in the neighborhoods we build in and bringing people together from young and old, novice to expert climbers alike. We thrive where people can come together and climb and help one another reach new heights and then go out and enjoy all that the area has to offer,” said Kovalcik via the press release. “We love the culture found along Bloomfield Avenue, and can’t wait to open our front doors directly across the new pedestrian walkway to the Wellmont Theater. Ironstate and Brookfield understand how to create a destination and bring in complimentary amenities and services that will attract visitors and give them a reason to stay.”
The grand opening date of Gravity Vault is Saturday, August 7th, with soft opening hours on Thursday, August 5th, and Friday, August 6th from 4pM-8PM.
