Thanks to the Montclair Local for sharing the tip about the incoming Free People location in Montclair. Free People is a women’s clothing and accessories retailer that focuses on boho-style fashions. The store operates across the US, Canada, and Europe with over 180 specific locations. The Free People opening in Montclair will be the store’s second location in Essex County, the other one located at The Mall at Short Hills.

Free People is in the same corporate portfolio, URBN, as Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, both of which have locations in Montclair.

Anthropologie, located at 470 Bloomfield Avenue, and Urban Outfitters, located at 20 S Park Street, are the other two stores and have been operating in Montclair for over 15 years. Free People’s new Montclair location will be across the street from Anthropologie at 469 Bloomfield Avenue. The last long-standing business in this location was Hampton House, a furniture store that closed in 2017. Since then, there have not been any long-lasting stores to occupy the space, except for Body Fit Training (BFT) located in the space above.

As of July 8th, signs were posted to the door of the store announcing a Friday, July 10th, opening date.
