While many people focus mainly on the city center for Millburn + Short Hills, what many people may not realize is that there is a whole road of activities for those passing by. For those unsure if they want a BYOB spot or a spot with wine options available, visit Basilico. This Italian restaurant is special in the sense that customers’ wines are welcome, but the space also serves wine for those looking to try something new. Options to try are short ribs (red wine braised boneless beef short ribs, served with saffron risotto), Branzino alle Erbe (grilled filet of sea bass, garlic lemon herbs sauce, sauteed broccoli rabe, roasted potatoes). This modern French restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday for a brunch seating + a dinner seating. Brunch options include Omelette Montrachet (omelet goat cheese with roasted tomatoes), Modern Caesar au Poulet (chicken paillard Caesar salad), + Pain Perdu (croissant French toast with mixed berries). Dinner options include wild mushroom strudel, smoked brie, truffle mushroom rssence + oven-roasted Striped Bass, Jerusalem artichoke puree, parsnips, and black olive tomato tapenade.

Casa Das Natas | 348 Millburn Avenue
Casa Das Natas looks like a Portuguese bakery meets cafe. The outdoor logo draws people inside with homage to Portuguese tiles. Inside the cafe is decorated with tile + coffee decals on the walls. While the go-to recommendation is to try a pastel de nata (Portuguese custard cup), other options include something for lunch, like tomato rice with fish fillet or codfish. Pro tip: Ask for cinnamon on the pastel de nata.

Clemenza’s is located in the same building as Joey’s Ristorante, but has a different storefront. The space is known for its ties to Peter Clemenza from The Godfather. MG recommends trying the fettuccine carbonara (fettuccine, pancetta, onions, egg yolk, cream, parmesan cheese, served with salad), or the Sole Oreganatta (baked and topped with seamed breadcrumbs in a lemon white wine sauce).

Options to try are the Famous Stuffed Artichoke, Tortellini Gian Marco (tri-color cheese-filled tortellini tossed with asparagus and mushrooms in a pink sauce) + Pollo Roma (chicken breasts served in a light marsala wine sauce with asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, and mushrooms topped with melted mozzarella).
