The Millburn Deli has taken over a new space in the Watchung downtown area. After the closing of the beloved Watchung Deli during the pandemic, locals are looking forward to having another go-to in the area for a sandwich fix. The Watchung Deli had been open since 1926 and served greater Montclair families for generations.

The Menu

Millburn Deli

The Millburn Deli is best known for its Sloppy Joe sandwiches, a New Jersey staple. The sandwich consists of three pieces of rye bread, deli meat of choice, Swiss, coleslaw, and Russian dressing. It’s messy, delectable, and is best done by a true New Jersey deli.

Its other popular items include The Gobblerwhich is literally Thanksgiving dinner between two pieces of rye bread — and The Godfadda with chicken cutlet, bacon, mozzarella, and Russian dressing on a pressed sub roll. Patrons can’t go wrong with any of the large, freshly made sandwiches.

The Millburn Deli also offers gluten-free bread and vegetarian sandwich options like the Three’s Company featuring fontina, cheddar, asiago, roasted garlic tomato, and homemade pesto aioli (also available jarred to take home) on pressed white bread.

Alongside your sandwich, make sure to try the deli’s homemade iced tea. It’s offered in sweetened and unsweetened flavors and is the most refreshing way to wash down your meal.

No good deli is complete without a solid pickle and, included with their sandwiches comes one pickle chip. While we appreciate the gesture, you cannot let that be the only pickle in your order. Ask for an entire side of pickles for a salty, juicy side to perfectly balance out your sandwich of choice.

The Millburn location is officially open and is also on Uber Eats and DoorDash. Millburn Deli also offers curbside pick-up. Catering options are also available.
