“There have been many changes throughout our near 135 years as one of New Jersey’s longest-standing family-owned small businesses. And as with any business journey, some changes have been unwanted, difficult, and knock-you-down unexpected. While other changes have been pivotal to our growth – moments of joy,” says Mary. “We are happy to announce, as a family business, we have arrived at one of those joyous, celebratory changes in our journey.”
“This is a monumental chapter in our family’s story. It marks a continuation of female leadership in business as Mary’s mother, Kathryn Murdoch, was keen enough to purchase the building decades ago.”
She reflects on the hardships of the pandemic and expresses her joy for the business not only making it out on the other side but truly stepping into the next chapter and milestone of Murdoch Shoes. “At a time when we all need a heartwarming piece of news, this story fills you up with warmth, joy, and inspiration. Perseverance through Covid-19, the loss of our family’s matriarch, thoughts of bankruptcy, and out the other side of the tunnel – stronger, wiser, looking on to the brightness of our future.”
