One of Bloomfield’s and the state’s oldest businesses, Murdoch Shoes, located at 623 Bloomfield Avenue, has been family-owned and operated since 1888 – bringing a new meaning to a longstanding business. Mary Murdoch, the fourth-generation owner and first female owner of the business announced that there has been an exciting update within her family business.
Murdoch Shoes sells shoes for women, men, and kids in over 25 brands including UGG and New Balance, as well as offers shoe fittings with a specialty in pedorthic and orthotic products and services. The shop provides shoes for hospitals, rehab facilities, nurses, patients, and more.
The pedorthic staff will:
- Assist and suggest in the formulation of the prescription
- Explain the prescription to the patient
- Dispense the footwear, foot orthoses, and or modifications to fill the prescription
- Monitor patient progress and compliance
- Make the needed adjustments to footwear
- Fabricate and make adjustments to achieve a proper fit
- Integrate the proper footwear, modification, and orthoses with the foot
Mary announced that Murdoch Shoes has purchased the entire building that the store is located in on Bloomfield Avenue. Furthering the local legacy of her family and solidifying the future of it, Mary has kept the building in the Murdoch family.
