Served as an appetizer, main dish, or dessert – pierogies are a favorite when it comes to comfort food. The English word “pierogi” comes from Polish pierogi. And while the origin of pierogies is sometimes debated in America, the food has a strong connection to Polish tradition and immigrants. At their core, they are dumplings that are first boiled, then fried to give them a bit of browning. You’ll find that a typical pierogi is filled with potato – but they can also contain cheese, sauerkraut, ground meat, mushrooms, or fruits — all sure to be delicious. Keep reading to find out where you can satisfy your pierogi cravings in North Jersey.
