This isn’t your average asphalt: The Lot is a newly-opened, 20,000-square-foot outdoor, covered space, available to host parties of 100 to 700 people. It is the first of its kind in the Tri-State area and gives our community a new place to celebrate Covid-safely. Read on to learn more about The Lot, a new outdoor venue in West Orange.
Owners Jeffrey Siber and Marc Jason, along with creative director Morgan Reed, were inspired to create The Lot in response to the 2020 Covid-related shutdown of the hospitality industry. They transformed a simple parking lot into a full-service venue that can host everything from weddings to Bar/Bat Mitzvahs to corporate events and product launches, and more.
The space was inspired by hospitality tents and outdoor festivals and can be customized to fit any party planner’s needs. Because the space is a blank slate, hosts can choose any of their favorite vendors for tables, flowers, food, etc. to truly realize the visions for their events. The Lot handles all lighting, sound, and audio/visual components and has recommendations of local vendors for hosts to use.
Like a traditional venue, The Lot offers things like beautiful wood flooring, trussing systems for accent lighting, a state-of-the-art sound system, and heating and air-conditioning options depending on the time of year. It has an open-ended design concept that enables airflow to move continuously throughout the space.
The venue also boasts on-site bathrooms and a portable, full-service catering kitchen. The Lot has its own parking lot and it is free to use.
What sets The Lot apart from a traditional venue is its customizable nature. Creative Director Morgan Reed said in regard to the space’s creation, “we wanted a way for people to feel safe and celebrate life’s moments.”
The Lot is in a unique position to make guests feel comfortable in our new post-pandemic world. Event-goers were asked at the door to have a temperature check and for their vaccination status, ensuring everyone was comfortable to go maskless under the tent.
The high ceilings and wall-free design kept the air moving while still protecting guests from any inclement weather. The Lot’s website notes that “The sizable accommodations allow guests to safely distance while stationary aerial fans circulate renewable air.”
The Lot is here to help New Jerseyans enjoy life and spend time with loved ones again—safely—and we are excited to welcome them into the neighborhood.
