It’s no secret that Jersey is a hub for the arts — it’s part of what makes the area so great. A-list celebrities have called it home given its proximity to NYC and its suburban vibes — perfect for those who love both the hustle and bustle of a city and the tranquility of living just outside of one. Because of the area’s versatility, it has been a go-to for film crews over the years. In fact, there are a number of celebs in the state filming new movies as we speak. In between filming, these celebs, including Emma Roberts and Lucy Hale, have taken to the town to enjoy local businesses. These stars are among the handful of actors that were in the Essex County area this fall — and we’ve got the Deux Moi receipts to prove it. Read on for a list of celebrities who were spotted in the North Jersey area this weekend.

A Montclair Spotting

This past weekend, actress Shailene Woodley reportedly popped into Montclair’s Blu Lotus Metaphysical Center, according to an Instagram story from Deuxmoi. Shailene first arrived on the Hollywood scene with her major breakout role as Hazel Grace in The Fault in Our Stars. Recently, she’s starred alongside seasoned Hollywood vets including Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon, and Nicole Kidman in the HBO Max series Big Little Lies. While we aren’t certain what brought the actress to town, the anonymous reader described her as “super sweet.”

Shailene was not the only celeb on a wellness kick in the North Jersey area. Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale attended a 9:30AM Soul Cycle class in Short Hills. Per Daily Mail, the actress is in NJ for an upcoming romance film called Which Brings Me to You. Lucy and co-star, Nat Wolff, have been filming in Monmouth County in the small town of Keyport. According to Deuxmoi, Lucy mostly “kept to herself” and rushed out of the fitness class before the stretch.

In February, The Montclair Girl reported that Emma Roberts was spotted at not one, but two Montclair businesses. This weekend, the American Horror Story actress made her return to Essex County, visiting local restaurants at both Turtle + The Wolf in Montclair and Artie’s in Maplewood. Emma was joined by rumored boyfriend Cody John, with whom she was “making out the whole time,” per Deuxmoi submissions. Despite the PDA, readers reported that Emma was very friendly to fans and staff.

Emma’s back in the Garden State to film a new rom-com, Space Cadet. Patch reported that production for the film began in Matawan last Wednesday, October 5th. Emma will play a Florida party girl, Rex, who in a serendipitous turn of events, becomes the only person who can save NASA (sounds… interesting!). A few of the movie’s scenes are being shot at the town’s historic “Blue House.”
