We’ve got a lot to celebrate this month! March marks Women’s History Month and this local Montclair designer is giving back in a big way. Nancy Rose is the founder of Nancy Rose Performance, a female-founded activewear and lifestyle collection designed to withstand the toughest workouts and empower women from the barre to the boxing ring and beyond. In celebration of Women’s History Month, the brand kicked off a month-long partnership with Covenant House to donate a pair of leggings for every pair sold on the website that began on March 8th, International Women’s Day. Read on to learn more about Nancy, her clothing brand, and her month-long event.

About Nancy Rose Performance

Nancy’s collection, which launched in 2012 is chock full of edgy sweatshirts, printed leggings, and hand-dyed tanks created for daring women who HIIT hard and party harder. And who better to design an activewear collection than a former elite gymnast who trained for the Olympics?

But Nancy Rose Performance is not just about looking good, they are about doing good. The brand has a long history of supporting various organizations that inspire confidence, strength, and courage.

Nancy Rose first collaborated with Covenant House New York in December 2020 when she donated 500+ pairs of denim from her collection to the organization. For the past 45 years, Covenant House has been the leader in providing residential services to vulnerable homeless, runaway, and exploited youth in New York City.

Now, the brand has kicked off a month-long partnership with Covenant House to donate a pair of leggings for every pair sold on the website.

“As a native New Yorker, when I learned how Covenant House helped young adults find refuge from living on the streets and also empowered them with the tools to achieve independence, I knew I had to find a way to work with them. I wanted to provide these young New York women with the confidence they needed to feel their best” said Rose when we sat down with her in her Upper Montclair showroom.

The Showroom

Rose’s new showroom and design studio is tucked away on Bellevue Avenue. She recently relocated her offices from the Garment District in Midtown Manhattan to a small studio space for her team just minutes from her current home in Montclair.

“I chose to relocate my workspace to be closer to my boys. It was a constant struggle to be in two places at once, so moving my offices to Montclair helped to create balance in my life” said Rose. “The transition was pretty seamless because Montclair feels so city-like. At the end of the day, it’s all about my family – and the 2-minute commute to work is pretty great too!”.

When Rose isn’t busy balancing motherhood, designing her latest collection, and supporting the causes most important to her you can find her dining out at some of her favorite local spots like Dai-kichi, DeNovo European Pub, and Faubourg – and in pre-COVID-19 times checking out the latest show at The Wellmont.
