Envy by Melissa Gorga has become a hotspot in Montclair ever since it made its debut on the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Founder and cast member of the show Melissa Gorga can be found handling the shop’s business affairs inside and outside of the store, modeling clothes sold at Envy, and sometimes even filming with the Real Housewives camera crew at the shop’s location 609 Bloomfield Avenue. Read on for a peek at what it’s like in the Envy store on a regular basis in Montclair.
The Opening of Envy

The grand opening of Melissa’s locale took place on January 14, 2016, with a red carpet and lots of Housewives in attendance, including Teresa Giudice, Dolores Catania, Jacqueline Laurita, and Kathy Wakile — among others.
In an interview with E! News that evening, Gorga shared how the name came about: “It’s more about envying the clothes and envying something that someone is wearing, so that’s where Envy kind of came from. I wanted something very chic and something very short. Actually, my best friend named my store, believe it or not.”

In another interview with All About the Tea, the Real Housewives star explained more about how hard she had been working to make sure everything was perfect for the store’s opening.
“I’ve become my own little entrepreneur and I put all of myself into whatever project I’m working on. I am there just about every day. I’ve hand-picked every single piece of clothing in the store,” Gorga said. “This store is my baby! I hired an amazing team and have an incredible partner named Jackie [Beard Robinson]. We all work together to make it a great experience for everyone that walks through those doors.”
What to Expect

Anyone who follows Gorga on social media will know what to expect to find inside the Montclair shop. The 41-year-old reality star posts what she’s wearing almost daily and her outfits usually end up coming straight from Envy by MG {and often with a swipe-up link}!
“This is a lot of my own taste and it looks exactly like my closet at home, so it’s like walking into my closet,” Gorga told E!

From dresses and skirts to denim and tops, the New Jersey native has sported just about every kind of clothing the store sells. Online and in-store shoppers can also find a selection of jumpsuits, jackets, matching sets, new arrivals, swimwear, accessories {belts, bags, jewelry, hats, gloves} and the Envy collection. The Envy-branded collection {cozy loungewear} consists of baseball caps, sweaters, sweatpants, and T-shirts.
Envy Spotlighted Nationwide

Ever since Envy by Melissa Gorga made its debut on Real Housewives of New Jersey, the camera crew has been following the reality star to the store, filming her every move. Fans normally get to see a glimpse of her shop during each season. However, the most exciting part that fans love to watch is her fashion show.
Her first one was held at Macaluso’s in Hawthorne, New Jersey, on March 30, 2016. A few years later, there was another major fashion show at the same venue on May 3, 2019, where stars from the current season were in attendance, including Teresa Giudice, Dolores Catania, Margaret Joseph, and Jackie Goldschneider.

When speaking to HollywoodLife prior to Season 10 airing in November 2019, Melissa shared, “I always say, ‘The best thing to come out of Real Housewives of New Jersey for me is Envy.’ I’m so pumped about it because I have another Envy fashion show. I introduced a men’s line now, and there are the hottest male models.”
The mom of three added, “I really have grown into this boss that I’m proud of and I love that my daughter can see it. The boss lady is coming out and I’m just throwing clipboards!”
Visiting Envy

Envy was forced to shut down for a few months in 2020 due to the coronavirus. In a June 10th Instagram post, Gorga announced the shop’s reopening. “I am so freaking excited!! We are finally allowed to open our doors @envybymg back up on June 16TH!!! We can not wait to see you! We have tons of new arrivals and restocked so many of your favorites! Not in New Jersey?! Envy is now open seven days a week from 10AM – 6PM. On Sunday, the hours are from 11 AM – 5 PM.
