North Jersey ice cream lovers, this one’s for you. If you haven’t heard of Kreme + Krumbs, it’s an artisanal ice cream shop in Montclair. A self-proclaimed “dope ass ice cream shop,” this women- and Black-owned creamery serves up a rotation of monthly flavors that are worth every calorie. About Kreme + Krumbs
The women- and Black-owned ice cream shop first opened at 162 Glenwood Avenue in Bloomfield in 2017 and quickly became popular for the ‘Kremewhich’ — a sandwich that’s half ice cream, half cake, and all parts delicious. Also known for its ‘Over The MOOn’ ice cream, Kreme + Krumbs has offered flavors like Peanutbutta Milk and Kookies, Junk Kreme, and a twist on a traditional Rocky Road called Jersey Turnpike (a name we love just as much as you do). The team officially moved to Montclair after a successful pop-up shop in 2021, and has called 147 Bloomfield Avenue home for over 3 years.

So, what’s so special about Kreme + Krumbs? For starters, the team releases a new menu every month with seasonal flavors. Some highlights from February include: Blueberry + Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (Marscapone cream cheese cream, zesty lemon ricotta, and pancake pieces), Chocolate Raspberry (chocolate cream, ganache chunks, swirls of raspberry jam), and Dumb Chocolate (chocolate cream, chocolate kake pieces, swirls of fudge). Sometimes the menu will feature a 21+, alcohol-infused flavor. This month, the Real Vanilla features a boozy Madagascar bourbon.
What really sets Kreme + Krumbs apart, though is that the ice cream is made from scratch daily in small batches. There are no artificial flavorings or high-fructose corn syrups — only “the freshest and finest ingredients.” Everything we do in our kitchen is of quality and we hope you experience it in every bite or spoonful. Even the jams, curds, and crumbles are hand-made by the team, as are the fresh waffle cones. If you’re debating cup or cone… well, you know what to do.
It’s important to note that Kreme + Krumb’s ice creams “are produced in a facility where dairy, wheat, tree nuts, and peanuts are present,” per its website. Individuals with severe nut, wheat, and dairy allergies will unfortunately have to sit this one out.
