A new Italian eatery is entering the Montclair dining scene, Boschetto, which is soft opening this week at 111 Grove Street and having a grand opening next month. Boschetto is a fast-casual restaurant with an elevated twist, a concept created by long-time restaurateur Robert Spina, his partner Ryan Held, and Michelin-starred chef Joseph Sergentakis. The Montclair Girl spoke with Robert and Chef Joseph to get all the details on what diners can expect from this one-of-a-kind experience. Read on for more about Boschetto.
About Boschetto
Boschetto has officially been a year in the making, although Robert and Chef Joseph have been working on the concept since they met in Hong Kong 15 years ago. They were both New Jersey natives in the restaurant business, and from that serendipitous meeting forward, they knew they wanted to open something special together. Montclair quickly became the goal for its diversity, cosmopolitan edge, and the expanded palette of the community.

While Boschetto is fast-casual by design in that guests order at the counter, the food and the service style take the experience to the next level. There will be captains roaming the restaurant interior and the patio, with 40 seats each, to help take additional orders and provide special attention to tables. The restaurant is a BYOB. While Boschetto won’t take reservations, the patio will be available for private parties.
What To Expect
While Boschetto’s cuisine is Italian, Chef Joseph puts his own spin on the dishes. He only uses the highest quality products, most of which are either made in-house or are imported from Italy. There are a variety of pizzas on the menu, but what Robert and Chef Joseph are most excited about are the Vitello tonnato, squid ink pasta, and panuozzi, a made-to-order sandwich baked with homemade pizza dough. There will be a variety of desserts on the menu made in-house, as well as gelato.

The restaurant will soft open on Wednesday, August 16th with lunch service to start and be open five days a week (Wednesday through Sunday). Boschetto will start with an abbreviated menu, with the goal of expanding its offerings and hours in the coming weeks. Vegan and gluten-free options will also make their way to the menu at a later date.
