Makeup artist Bobbi Brown once called Essex County the Brooklyn of New Jersey, and it seems that the moniker is starting to take. Many celebrities have been spotted in the area enjoying some of the food scene, checking out live entertainment, or even making planned appearances. If you’re looking for one of your favorite celebrities in the Montclair area, check out our list of places below to spot a celebrity.
DeNovo | 275 Bellevue Avenue, Montclair
This European gastropub’s owner, Demetri Malki, has been serving mouthwatering eats to Montclair residents since 2001. Bobbi Brown is a fan, even including it in her guide to Montclair in Vogue.

Design-minded, there are many Instagram opportunities on the grounds, paying homage to the building’s history (it dates back to 1902) and combining them with modern, handpicked touches. Brown calls the area “the Brooklyn of New Jersey,” and is one of the area’s most famous residents.
Prudential Center | 25 Lafayette Street, Newark
Celeb spotting takes a double meaning at this arena. Watch celebs on the ice and on stage from the bleachers, or spot them amongst the crowd taking in some music or sports. As an added bonus, check out the Grammy Museum, where tons of celebrity paraphernalia adorns the walls.
Tierney’s Tavern | 138 Valley Road, Montclair
This two-level Irish bar is home to live music and tons of events, so it’s no wonder that Emma Roberts had to head over to take in the action for herself. She stopped into the tavern with former co-star Luke Bracey, where the pair sat at the bar and enjoyed the scene. There’s food, drinks, and live music at this Montclair tavern, what else could a celebrity need?
