If your go-to outfit is a baggy graphic tee and a pair of basketball shorts, now is your time to shine. Local Italian restaurant Porta Montclair, located at 499 Bloomfield Avenue, is hosting an Adam Sandler lookalike contest on August 1st, 2025. The event, Night of 1000 Adam Sandlers, will also feature a dance party, free food + drinks, and a chance to win tickets to an upcoming Wellmont Theater show. The Event
Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel to the cult classic Happy Gilmore, was released on Netflix on July 25th. In honor of the film, which used much of Montclair as its backdrop, the Italian staple Porta Montclair is set to host “Night of 1000 Adam Sandlers” on Friday, August 1st, from 8PM to 12AM.

This free event will feature themed drink specials, pizza, giveaways, showings of classic Adam Sandler films, a dance party, and an Adam Sandler lookalike contest, hosted by Hey Jersey Entertainment. This will take place in the eatery’s second level and garden space.

Attendees are encouraged to channel their inner Adam Sandler, whether that means showing up in polo shirts + khakis as a nod to the 1996 film, in a loud Hawaiian shirt, honoring 50 First Dates, or embracing his signature style of an oversized tee and basketball shorts.
The winner of the contest will receive tickets to Wellmont Theater’s Duel of the Decades, ’90s v. Y2K, a live interactive music competition where “two of the greatest cultural eras [will] go head-to-head in the ultimate battle,” per the theater’s website. At this show, taking place on October 10th at 8PM, guests will have the chance to cast votes on which musical decade performed the best.
About Porta
Porta is a New Jersey-born and bred Italian restaurant with locations in Asbury Park, Jersey City, and Montclair. Taking over the former Social Club space, the eatery first opened in the MTC in February 2022.
With a motto of “Eat, drink, be honest,” the restaurant serves a menu of brick oven pizza, craft cocktails, pasta dishes, and more. Porta is also known for its live music events and rooftop views.
