A popular Montclair deli known as Jackie’s Grillette is expanding after more than two decades in business. Known for its Mediterranean wraps, sandwiches, breakfast favorites, and fresh juices, the local staple has expanded into the larger space right next door at 612 Valley Road and officially opened for service on June 15th at 8AM. Read on for more about Jackie’s Grillette and its new home in Montclair.

History of Jackie’s Grillette
Jackie’s Grillette is owned by the Arsheed family, and its roots began at the Plaza Shoppe, a former deli in Watchung Plaza located between Mr. Dino’s and Blue Stone Coffee. The store was owned and operated by generations of Middle Eastern immigrants, providing jobs and support for local families in the community.

In 2007, as the business continued to grow, the family sold the deli and opened Jackie’s Grillette in Upper Montclair. Named after their daughter, Jacqueline, the restaurant has remained on Valley Road for nearly two decades.
Jackie worked alongside her brothers at the family deli and later at Jackie’s Grillette while she was in high school, with her mother helping develop many of the recipes that became customer favorites. Her father, Nassar Arsheed, immigrated to the United States from Rameh, Israel, and opened the original deli with his brother, laying the foundation for the family business.
Over the years, Jackie’s brothers expanded the brand by opening a second Jackie’s Grillette location in Little Falls, which Jackie helped manage. She later branched out on her own, opening her own concept, Jackie + Sons, in South Orange, alongside her husband Jake.
New Location Next Door
The decision to expand was driven by the need to meet growing demand for seating, as crowds often exceeded the limited in-house capacity, leading to a reliance on takeout when seats were unavailable.

Jackie’s Grillette has now moved from 614 Valley Road to 612 Valley Road, taking over the former Montclair Stationery space, and officially opened in its new location on June 15 at 8AM. The newly rebranded space is also dropping “Grillette” from its name and will now be called simply “Jackie’s.”
The original space is now closed, with its future use still being decided by the Arsheed family. According to Montclair Local, Tina Arsheed shared that they are envisioning an exciting new use for the space.
