The New Montclair Studio
The new Montclair MEGA Studio opens this week on Saturday, November 11th and the team is so excited to officially join the Montclair community.
“The walkability of Montclair is incredible for someone transitioning from city to suburbs life and being able to walk places brings me so much joy! I have also never encountered a friendlier neighborhood and love the small-town feel,” Kyra said.
Like the Jersey City studio, the new Montclair MEGA location will have state-of-the-art equipment, a team of dedicated trainers, and a club-like atmosphere to keep you motivated.
The studio will also feature a coffee bar, retail shopping + a parking lot (yes, really).
“Now, we get to bring all the shakes, sprints, sweats, and smiles to Downtown Montclair and we’re so excited to bring Essex County our incredibly unique, fun, and exhilarating workout experience,” Kyra said.
For the grand opening, MEGA Montclair has some amazing grand opening deals for the local community. Grand opening deals (available at the Montclair location only) include:
- $275/month unlimited membership (deal ends 11/12)
- Buy 5 classes, get 2 free (deal ends 11/12)
- 20% off both MEGA4 + MEGA8 monthly memberships
MEGA is a Lagree and Technogym boutique fitness studio with a fun club-like atmosphere and a team of trainers ready to help each client transform their fitness journey.
“At MEGA we pride ourselves on our small group classes and our ability to truly give EVERYONE that 1-on-1 workout experience. Our 12-person class sizes allows our team to be hyper on top of form over everything – making sure you are always doing exercises safely and effectively,” Kyra Huxel, owner and founder of MEGA Montclair and MEGA Jersey City, told The Montclair Girl.
The classic MEGA Stride classes are a perfect 50/50 blend of low-impact strength training on the advanced Lagree Megaformer ‘EVO’ with high-intensity interval running and sled training on the luxury treadmill. Members should come prepared to sweat, sprint + shake for the entire 55-minute class.
The EVO, developed by Sebastien Lagree, is a more advanced version of a reformer (for anyone who has taken Pilates) and is designed to rapidly tone and strengthen the core and enhance muscle endurance.
MEGA-only classes are also an option for anyone who wants to skip the treadmill and just reap the benefits of the Megaformer. Both the Stride and MEGA-only classes are hard but created with all fitness levels in mind.
“We pride ourselves on our workout being able to be enjoyed by all levels,” Kyra said.
Monthly memberships are available for anyone who gets hooked on MEGA (trust us, you definitely will). There are three different monthly membership plans that either come with unlimited, four, or eight classes each month.
MEGA is a unique fitness experience where clients get a full-body workout and leave each session with the mental and physical strength to do anything. The workouts are tough but once you get in the zone and start shaking, sprinting, sweating + smiling, you might be surprised by what you can accomplish.
Kyra Huxel opened MEGA Studios in Jersey City two years ago and her recent move to Montclair sparked her decision to open a second New Jersey location.
“While I miss my friends and more specifically seeing our clients frequently, I absolutely love our new suburban life where it feels we are totally isolated BUT I can walk to Anthropologie and Raymonds within 10 minutes,” she said.
Anyone who has taken a class at the Jersey City location will know what the EVO is like, but first-timers should be prepared for a fun challenge. This spring-based machine pushes muscles to their full potential and it might take a few classes for your brain and body to get used to the sensation (hello, shakes).
