In the latest addition to Montclair’s fine-dining scene, a new restaurant, OEN, will be opening its doors today, October 15th. The new concept is the latest from Iron Chef’s Chef Morimoto. OEN will be located at 189 Glenridge Avenue, nearby Chef Morimoto’s other establishment, MM by Morimoto. Read on for more details about Montclair’s newest restaurant, OEN.

Omakase Concept
Via press release, the Montclair Hospitality Group is set to open a new restaurant, OEN, featuring a 12-seat omakase experience from Chef Masaharu Morimoto. As defined by the Michelin Guide, an omakase dining experience entails courses chosen by the Chef, as the Japanese term literally translates to “I leave it up to you.” The omakase experience will consist of 12-15 courses and a signature welcome cocktail for each guest. For foodies willing to splurge on the experience, the cost per guest is $300 including tip and service, which is paid at the time of reservation. A curated sake and wine list is also available à la carte.

The cocktail menu highlights the Wagyu Wash Old Fashioned with wagyu chocolate jerky, the MM Manhattan made with Morimoto Single Malt, and a Wasabi Gimlet with shiso paint.
About the Interior

The dining space was designed in collaboration with Brooklyn design firm, Blank Design. The interior features white leather, maple and spruce wood, slate finishes, and China and antiques sourced by Chef Morimoto in Tokyo’s Tsukiji and Kappabashi districts.
Upon entry, the space includes a lounge, highlighting an infinity bamboo wall in which guests will be served their welcome drinks. The lounge, which the restaurant describes as “intimate,” remains open for after-dinner drinks.
Guests can enter OEN at 189 Glenridge Avenue, which is adjacent to MM by Morimoto, located at 193 Glenridge Avenue. While the space is next door to the sister restaurant, OEN will, “Operate as its own distinct concept, complete with a separate entrance, intimate lounge, and unique identity.”
