In a state like New Jersey, no weekend is ever the same. The weekends are full of happenings — like local restaurants hosting a karaoke night or concerts at local theaters. To stay in the know of all of the local events, The Montclair Girl has been releasing a weekly events guide for residents to use as a guide for weekend planning. Readers and event organizers have been able to email their events for potential inclusion — but, we have made the process quicker and easier. Our self-service events calendar is a NEW feature on our site — giving readers the chance to view upcoming events, and event hosts to post their events for free — before our weekly events article goes live on TheMontclairGirl.com and shared on our socials. Read on to learn about this new website feature and how to submit an event to MG’s new events calendar.

About MG’s New Events Calendar

The Montclair Girl will still release a weekly events guide that displays all of the events taking place in cities like Montclair, Bloomfield, The Oranges, Verona, other surrounding North Jersey areas, and greater New Jersey and New York. The new events calendar feature will showcase events happening during the week, throughout the month, and beyond. Readers can scroll down the calendar and look at all kinds of events in our area.

It’s always been FREE to include your event on our site, but now event hosts can do so on their own.

To narrow down your search, there’s a bar on the events calendar where keywords can be typed in. Words like “music” or specific locations like “Bloomfield” can be typed in to narrow down your search. The MG events calendar will take readers to relatable searches for the keyword. There are so many events already live, which makes the calendar easy to browse and help with future weekend plans.

How to Submit an Event

When it comes to submitting events to the calendar, readers and event organizers can click here. Information needed for submission includes the title, as well as a short description that includes the location, date, and time. Users can also submit a photo/flyer and a link to the event.

Event categories can be added using the ones available on the MG events calendar. Examples of categories include lifestyle, kid-friendly, pet-friendly, food + drink, and entertainment. If there’s a link to an event, there is a section to include that information. The cost of the event can also be included — if the event is free, users can enter “0” or leave the space blank.

Once done filling out all event information, there is a button that says “Submit Event.” The events calendar will take users to a “Thank You” page. As always, every week the events guide will still be released and display all the ones happening from Thursday to Sunday, weekdays, kid-friendly, and pet-friendly.

*The Montclair Girl LLC has complete discretion over whether to publish your User Submissions and we reserve the right to monitor, edit, remove, or delete any User Submissions for any reason.
