Blue Hippo Cafe Co. | 662 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona

Blue Hippo is Verona’s go-to coffee spot. Here, you can sip on a Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam while biting into Huevos Rancheros. Blue Hippo also offers hot and iced matcha as well as chai and lattes. You can add soy, oat, coconut, and almond milk to your drinks. This cozy spot has an eye-catching interior and a perfect setup for those looking to get work done. Blue Hippo has increased its hours and is now open daily from 8AM to 8PM.

Harper’s Cafe | 134 South Valley Road, West Orange

Explore delicious breakfast and lunch at Harper’s Cafe in West Orange. This Black-owned cozy cafe features whole truffle grilled cheese, hummus toast, salad, and breakfast sandwiches. Of course, you’ll want to wash these down with coffee or tea. We suggest ordering their matcha, and adding your favorite milk and flavoring such as pistachio or peppermint.

Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. | 49 Church Street + 244 Bellevue Avenue, Montclair

With four locations two of which are in Montclair, Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. is loved by many. Here you can find hot and iced matcha, add a variety of milks to it, a flavor shot, and maybe an espresso. The spot has milk options for those who are vegan, dairy-free, nut-free, and gluten-free. You can choose from whole, skim, 2%, almond, oat, coconut, soy, and half and half. If you are in the mood for chocolate or caramel in your drink, then a pump of the syrups is the way to go.

Jola | 15 Bloomfield Avenue, North Caldwell

This classic Bloomfield Avenue coffee shop has been the local spot for high schoolers on their morning drink run since 2017. Jola partners with three New Jersey-based businesses that provide their shop with bread, energy balls, and gluten-free and vegan treats. They also have a variety of hot and cold drinks like coffee and tea. Many of their drinks are unique, such as the Iced Stroopwafel Latte, and the Raspberry Cold Foam Cold Brew. Jola offers excellent iced and hot Matcha Lattes. You can add flavors such as coconut syrup, maple syrup, or lavender syrup and you have six different milks to choose from.

Marcel Bakery + Kitchen | 631 1/2 Valley Road, Montclair

Marcel Bakery + Kitchen is a classic Montclair casual dining spot, notable for its Israeli and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Here you can order couscous, malabi, bagels, pita, and bourekas. Of course, you’ll want to pair it with a drink. You can pick from a variety of hot and iced ones such as matcha, chai, and coffee.

Mochinut | 349 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair + 427 Springfield Avenue, Summit + Others

Mochinut is known for its donuts with flavors like black sesame, Nutella, taro, mango, and even matcha. The donut style here is a fusion between the Japanese rice cake and classic American-style donuts. You can pair one of these treats with a Matcha Boba Tea. You can soon find a Mochinut in Nutley and Parsippany as new locations are opening here.

Playa Bowls take on matcha isn’t just iced, but combined with bananas, pineapples, and coconut milk and served as an ice-cold smoothie. If you want more flavor, you can always add blueberries, peanut butter, honey, Nutella, and maple syrup.

For the past two decades, Sweet Kitchen has been serving pastries, charisma, and coffee. Here you can find the classic iced or hot matcha. You can pair these creamy drinks with a sweet crepe, apple pie oatmeal, Korean shrimp tacos, and even a fudge brownie topped with ice cream.

Trend Coffee | 411 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair

Venture to Trend Coffee in Downtown Montclair for a coffee and vegan pastry in a historic building dating back to 1860. Here you can enjoy 16-inch crepes and savory galettes (perfect for GF people). If you are feeling matcha, but something different than iced or hot, then Trend is the place to go. You can order the Green Matcha Heaven Milk Bubble Tea, which combines jasmine green tea and matcha, and the signature boba. Trend also serves up a variety of slushies, one of them being Matcha Milk.
