New faces are always joining the Montclair foodie scene, and the city has recently welcomed another. Ju-Ichi, a Japanese restaurant chain, has now opened at 512 Bloomfield Avenue, with ramen, sushi, and more classic dishes. Keep reading to learn about Ju-Ichi in Montclair.
About Ju-Ichi
Ju-Ichi is a family-owned restaurant group with various locations across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It has two storefronts in State College and one in Morristown, and has recently opened its fourth in Montclair at 512 Bloomfield Avenue. Ju-Ichi focuses on providing a memorable dining experience to customers, with a mix of traditional Japanese food and innovative, chef-driven dishes.
Ju-Ichi is especially known for its ramen broth, which boils 100+ lbs of pork bones and over 20 other ingredients in an 18-inch pot for around 24 hours. The Ju-Ichi team uses such recipes to emphasize time and effort in crafting flavorful food.
What to Expect
Ju-Ichi’s menu is diverse, with hot + cold appetizers (including edamame, gyoza, and more), soups, salads, Donburi (Japanese rice bowls), ramen, udon (thicker Japanese noodles), sushi, and sashimi. It also offers a special named the Ju-Ichi Lunch, which comes with either sushi, sashimi, or both, along with miso soup and salad. It is available from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Monday through Friday. According to the storefront, Ju-Ichi is also BYOB.

Ju-Ichi’s arrival coincides with news of other restaurants opening in Montclair and the surrounding area, including the Italian restaurant Clementina and the robot-serviced sushi bar Shinjuku Station in Clifton.
