Vietnamese Cafe, Bánh Voyage, to Open in Former Da Pepo Space in Montclair
Nestled within Watchung Booksellers in Watchung Plaza was not-so-hidden gem and local favorite, da Pepo. Montclair residents may have been sad to hear of its closing, left with questions of what’s to come. Now, the wait is over, as Bánh Voyage, a Vietnamese cafe, is set to take over the space at 54 Fairfield Street. Keep reading for all the info about Bánh Voyage and its opening in Montclair, NJ.
The Details
Kevin Zaballero and Deborah Wang are the team behind another local favorite, Local Coffee, that happens to be right around the corner from 54 Fairfield Street. Kevin and Deborah are now also the owners of Bánh Voyage.

The team shared with Montclair Girl: “We are going to be a little more casual and will have counter service for our guests as well as indoor and outdoor seating. Our main focus will be on Vietnamese street food.”
Guests can expect food items such as banh mi sandwiches, usually served on a Vietnamese baguette with protein like pork and other goodies, vermicelli bowls, and rice plates. The team also shared with MG that they will collaborate with other local Montclair businesses for dessert options. The cafe will serve Vietnamese coffee all year round, as well as a rotating specialty drink menu.

Bánh Voyage doesn’t have a grand opening date yet, but the team plans for a soft launch in the next three to four weeks.
