One of the best parts of summer is that taking a dip in the water is a must during the season. If you happen to be more of a pool person rather than a beach person, there are plenty of pools in our area to enjoy a swim. From Mountainside Pool in Montclair to Ginny Duenkel Pool in West Orange, pools are located throughout different parts of our area for all to go for a swim. Read on for a list of outdoor public pools in Northern New Jersey to swim in or sit beside all summer long.

Bogota

Bogota Swim Club | 425 Feller Place

The Bogota Swim Club welcomes all Bergen County residents with daily memberships. All adults must present a valid photo ID for entry. Visitors should bring their own chairs and umbrellas to enjoy a day at the pool.

Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove Community Pool | 99 Slattery Drive

The Cedar Grove Community Pool is open to registration by residents and non-residents. Pool passes are sold for the season and can be bought for families, couples, individuals, or senior citizens. There are also swim lessons available, run by Starfish Aquatics. Register for lessons here.

Clark

Walter E. Ulrich Memorial Pool | 3 Parkway Drive

The Walter E. Ulrich Pool is operated by Union County and is open to county and non-county residents for a daily fee. Fees are at the adult, youth, and senior citizen levels, and all children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. A photo ID with an address is also required to gain entry into the pool. The pool complex features a main pool, kiddie pool, splash pad, and a playground. Daily admission fees range depending on your age and whether you’re a resident.

Glen Ridge

Glen Ridge Community Pool | 35 Clark Street

Glen Ridge Community Pool is open to Glen Ridge residents and their guests. Membership for the season is available at pricing for families, couples, singles, caregivers, and seniors. The pool complex features a slide at the main pool, a kiddie pool with a mushroom water feature, and a dedicated lane for lap swimming. Group and individual swim lessons are also provided to children throughout the summer, as well as a swim team that competes throughout the season.

Livingston

Mervyn V.T Haines Pool | 10 Wahler Road

The Mervyn V.T. Haines Community Pool is open to Livingston residents and former residents who have had active memberships within the past three years. It is also open to Roseland residents and Essex Fells residents for non-resident rates. The pool is open every day and features a main pool with a lap pool, a waterslide, and a wading pool.

Maplewood

Maplewood Community Pool | 187 Boyden Avenue

The Maplewood Pool features multiple pools for guests to use. The main pool is Olympic-sized and set up for swimming, and three lanes of lap swimming — and it even has two water slides. There is a diving pool with three diving boards and 11-foot, 22-foot, and 33-foot dive platforms. There is a training pool with a depth range from two to four feet for swimmers who aren’t ready for the deep end of the main pool. There is also a baby pool with a gradual incline and water features of rain curtains, showering mushrooms, and pool toys. In addition to all of the water features, the pool complex also has a snack bar, picnic area, ping pong, books, and board games available at the front desk. Memberships are available to families, individuals, couples, and senior citizens.

Millburn

Millburn Municipal Pool | 315 White Oak Ridge Road

The town pool in Millburn has a large complex that houses the pool, pickleball, and tennis courts. Residents can also register to use the town’s golf course in the summer. The Municipal Pool has a main pool with a waterslide, a wading pool for small children, and a concession stand with a shaded gazebo area for a break from the sun. Swimming pool memberships are available for families, individuals, senior citizens, and associates who are summer guests or childcare providers for the summer season. Pool registration also gives residents access to the tennis and pickleball courts and the golf course.

Maywood

Maywood Town Pool | 1 Brook Avenue

Maywood, a small town in Bergen County, boasts a charming town pool that’s a highlight of this quaint area. The pool has aqua exercise classes throughout the summer for a small fee. On Mondays and Fridays, the pool extends its hours so you can take a late-night dip.

Montclair

Mountainside Pool | 205 Upper Mountain Avenue

Mountainside Pool is open to Montclair residents only — no guests allowed — and comes in packages for families, single adults, children/youth, seniors, and caregivers.

Palisades Park

Palisades Park Swim Club | 200 Roosevelt Place

The Palisades Park pool is spacious and very family-friendly, often hosting events like pool parties and more. It’s open seven days on Sundays and Tuesdays.

Paramus

Paramus Municipal Swimming Pool | 530 Van Binsberger Boulevard

At the Paramus Pool, one can enjoy pristine pools, sun-soaked lounging areas, and a lively community atmosphere. This place makes for a refreshing escape and unforgettable summer moments.

Ramsey

Ramsey Municipal Pool | 75 East Oak Street

The Ramsey Municipal Pool is open daily throughout the summer. What sets it apart are its fabulous Friday events, featuring live music and extended hours for late-night fun.

Ringwood

Highlands Natural Pool | 180 Snake Den Road

The Highlands Natural Pool is one of the most unique pools in the state. The man-made pool was built in 1935 and is now fed by a local stream. The pool is Olympic-sized and set in amongst the trees of Norvin Green State Forest, making it a great spot to cool off after going for a hike. Season-long membership and daily passes are available. There is also a picnic grove, sand beach volleyball court, and concession stand.

West Caldwell

Westville Avenue Pool | 293 Westville Avenue

The Westville Avenue Pool is open for registration for residents of West Caldwell, Caldwell, Roseland, Essex Fells, Fairfield, Cedar Grove, North Caldwell, Little Falls, Montville, Pine Brook, and Towaco. The pool has a membership for the season for families, couples, singles, senior citizens, and caregivers. The pool complex features a main pool, a kiddie pool, and a playground. There is also a swim team for children to participate in and compete against neighboring towns during the summer.

Westfield

Memorial Pool | 713 Cumberland Street

Memorial Pool is a public pool open to both residents and non-residents of Westfield. It features a large main swimming pool, a lap pool, two water slides, a diving pool, a snack bar, and lots of green grass to soak up the sun.

West Orange

Ginny Duenkel Pool | 601/2 Cherry Street

The Ginny Duenkel Pool is open to West Orange residents with membership pricing for families, individuals, senior citizens, and senior citizen couples. The pool complex has three pools, including a large main pool equipped with a safety entrance ramp, a diving tank with a low board, a water slide, and an interactive spray pad area. There is also a snack bar with an eating deck and a lounge area. The pool also provides swim lessons and a swim team throughout the summer. It also hosts special event nights like sports and games nights, in addition to movie nights at the pool.

Woodcliff Lake

Old Mill Pool | 1 Werimus Road

The Old Mill Pool in Woodcliff Lake is open seven days a week. It features plenty of umbrellas for those who need a break from the sun.
