Ladyfingers Bakery + Bar, located at 1109 Broad Street in Bloomfield, is one of two sister spots to Brookdale Bar + Grill in Bloomfield. The team brought the concept to the neighborhood in 2023 and has been continuously evolving its menu ever since. MG got a taste back in 2024, and we’ve been eager to return to see what’s new. Now, Ladyfingers is introducing The Fizz Bar, a dirty soda concept featuring customizable, over-the-top drinks, as dirty sodas continue to trend with new spots popping up across New Jersey, along with a refreshed sandwich menu, and MG got an exclusive try ahead of the official launch. Read on for more about the dirty sodas coming to The Fizz Bar at Ladyfingers Bar + Bakery.

About Ladyfingers

Owners Samara Sulin and Lauren Kavourakis opened Ladyfingers with the intention of creating a space that feels personal, where food brings people together for a morning espresso or a cocktail with a sweet treat to top it off. Ladyfingers has built a reputation for both sweet treats and savory staples. In particular, it’s known for its standout items like macarons, brunch favorites like avocado toast, and craft coffee. Think of it as a one-stop shop: bakery meets craft coffee shop meets cocktail bar. And even better, everything is prepared daily using mainly local ingredients, making every bite and sip feel fresh and flavorful.

About The Fizz Bar

The Fizz Bar at Ladyfingers will feature over-the-top sodas with sweet creams and fun flavors, known as dirty sodas. A dirty soda is a non-alcoholic beverage that starts with a base of soda of your choice (often cola or root beer) and is then “dirtied” up with customizations like flavored syrups, cream, coffee, and other addictive add-ons. For example, instead of ordering a plain Diet Coke, you can turn it into a dirty soda by adding coconut cream, vanilla syrup, or anything else your heart desires.

The dirty soda craze has roots in Utah’s Mormon culture, where soda was customized with syrups and cream as a coffee alternative before going viral on social media and spreading nationally. Its arrival in Bloomfield reflects a growing demand in the beverage industry, particularly among Gen Z, for customization + an overall fun drink experience, according to The Food Institute.
