Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree Farm | 231 Adamic Hill Road, Milford

This farm is owned by a man named Charlie Brown and his brother Randy. The brothers took over the 150-acre farm from their parents, and it is still a family-run operation. Christmas trees here range from four feet to 15 feet, and other greenery including wreaths and garland are available. It is also pet-friendly, so our furry friends can join in on the fun.

Conover’s Farm | 3105 Hurley Pond Road, Wall Township

Conover’s Farm has over 3,000 trees to choose from, so the tree of all visitors’ sugar-plummed dreams is bound to be here. This specialty farm grows only Christmas trees and has been in business for over 40 years so the team knows a thing or two about trees. Customers can reserve a tree with a two-part tag. Remove the bottom of the tag, place it on the tree, and bring the top section to an attendant who will then process the tree. Trees range from 4 feet tall to over 12 feet tall in various shapes, including traditional, fat, skinny, dense, and open.

Hidden Pond Tree Farm | 4 West Field Road, Mendham

A visit to Hidden Pond Tree Farm is a fun outing for the whole family: even Fido can come. This dog-friendly farm welcomes well-behaved, leashed pups to join their families on the quest for the perfect tree. This year, the trees are pre-cut but the other seasonal activities on the Farm are a go: bonfires, marshmallow roasting, and hayrides are all in the mix. In addition to an incredible selection of pre-cut Fir trees of all sizes up to 20 feet tall, the farm sells wreaths, garlands, and other greenery made by hand from a material grown on the farm. A heads up — the farm does not accept credit card payments, so bring cash or a checkbook.

Kevin’s Tree Lot | 480 Old River Road Edgewater + 191 Grand Street, Jersey City

Customers can choose their tree on the lot here or schedule contactless home delivery, which includes setup. Kevin’s has an assortment of tree selections, including the Carolina Fraser Fir — which has a classic Christmas tree shape with strong branches and a silver-like color (and it also sheds less). Pets are also welcome when families come to pick out a tree on the lot.

This farm is all about variety. It sells Norway Spruce, White Spruce, Douglas Fir, White Pine, and Serbian Spruce. There are balled trees and mini trees in addition to freshly made wreaths and garlands. This farm is cash-only, no credit cards are accepted. Customers can cut their own tree or the staff will help out.

Shale Hills Farm may be as close to the North Pole as most of us will ever get. Visitors to Shale Hills can cut their own pine, spruce, or fir trees or get help from staff. The staff will also help visitors tie the tree to the car. There are plenty of other activities to make a full day of it: get a snack at the Candy Cane Cottage to enjoy while watching a movie in the Santa-approved Christmas Movie Theater. There are farm animals and other attractions as well. The farm is cash-only and all trees are $95 regardless of size.
