About the Shop
Tanya Tauthong’Kass is the owner of Tweedle Tee’s Candies + Curiosities, located at 524 Bloomfield Avenue in Verona, directly across from Verona Park. She, her husband David, and their two girls live in Verona and are now in the very sweet business of candy. Tanya previously was a stylist for fashion shoots in New York. After suffering from two injuries she was unable to keep up with the physical demands of her career. Grateful for the opportunity to have more time with her daughters, Tanya embraced the change of direction.

As Tanya spent more time shopping locally, she noticed the candy selections in stores lacked varieties that would appeal to all of our candy desires. This inspired her to open a candy store in Verona which would bring the community together through sweet treats for children and adults alike. Tanya envisioned a store that embodied the magic of Alice In Wonderland, in essence falling through the rabbit hole into a playful childhood-provoking experience.
As luck would have it, a retail space on Bloomfield Avenue in Verona became available and Tanya knew the candy store idea was about to become a reality with the help of her whole family.
Taking cues from her two girls who had already experimented in a slime business and a candy business, Tanya included her daughters when meeting with candy distributors. Whom better to advise her than her children. Tanya’s brother, a contractor, translated her fantasy of a fanciful and playful candy store into the joyful and unique brick-and-mortar it is today. Candy is showcased in creative keyhole-shaped displays and the ceiling is a flowering garden turned upside down.
Candies, Chocolate, + Curiosities
There is a wide selection of treats, definitely something for everyone. If you are looking for healthier options, try Shameless Snacks Gummy Candy and Kolsvart’s Candy Fish, straight from Sweden. We loved the Elderflower flavor.
Trending for kids now are Bubble Tape, Sour Flush Spray, Harry Potter Frogs, and Kinder Eggs. The candy-by-the-pound is a wall of childhood memories and fun. The shop even has “Tweedle Time” for the kids after school Monday through Friday from 3PM to 4PM, discounting the candy-by-the-pound and making it more accessible to a child’s wallet. This may be the best after-school meeting spot in Essex County.
MG loved Mirzam Chocolate Makers from Dubai. The white chocolate with rose + pistachio ‘Falooda’ is an experience. Seattle Chocolate’s Sip Sip Hooray Truffles melt in your mouth and 10% of the company’s profits are donated to girls and women. Do not miss Pump Street Chocolates from England. The Sourdough + Sea Salt is perfectly unusual.
Tanya has also curated a selection of unique gifts, greeting cards, and accessories.
