In a statement to The Montclair Girl, the team shared:

“Closing The Brookdale was an incredibly difficult decision for us. It’s been a huge part of our lives for the past six years, and we’re truly grateful for the support, memories, and community that came through our doors.”

Fanny’s and Ladyfingers, The Brookdale’s sister concepts, will remain open: “At this time, our focus is on continuing to operate Fanny’s, Ladyfingers, and The Fizz Bar, making those concepts even stronger and more approachable for our guests,” the team shared. “We will be adding a killer happy hour, TVs for sports, and even adding some of The Brookdale’s most classic items (The Premio Eggroll) to the menu. We’re also taking some time to reset and evaluate what’s next, with the goal of coming back even better in the future.”

If you missed it, The Fizz Bar is a new dirty soda concept within Lady Fingers (the first of its kind in the area!), which we checked out a few weeks back. You can see a full recap here

The Backstory

After years of experience in the dining industry, brothers Anthony and Joseph Cinque teamed up with head chef Jonathan Kavourakis to open The Brookdale in 2020 at 1099 Broad Street in Bloomfield.

The restaurant quickly became a popular neighborhood hangout, largely because of its “hybrid-style” vibe — part sports bar, part restaurant. Its viral food challenges didn’t hurt either: foodies from around the state would travel to The Brookdale for its famed 1-pound mozzarella stick, called “The Big Cheese.”

The Brookdale’s last day of service will be this Sunday, April 19th – so if you haven’t been, there’s still time to check it out.
