Fans of Hamilton, MJ the Musical, Beautiful, and more will have a chance to see their favorite shows live in person this weekend. On Labor Day, September 1st, 2025, non-profit SOMA Stage will host the fourth annual Broadway in the Park, a free event featuring live performances of popular Broadway shows and appearances from local Broadway actors, at the Memorial Park Amphitheater, located at 580 Valley Street in Maplewood. The Details
The “biggest celebration of Broadway in New Jersey,” per the event’s website, is coming to Maplewood on Labor Day on September 1st, 2025. The event, presented by SOMA Stage in partnership with the Maplewood Division of Arts + Culture, a South Orange + Maplewood-based non-profit theater company, providing a creative space for local artists to build their craft, takes place at 4:30PM at Memorial Park Amphitheater.

Broadway fans can expect the attendance of local Broadway actors, including Whitney Bashor from MJ the Musical, Havon Burton from How to Dance in Ohio, Kennedy Caughell from Beautiful, Miguel Cervantes + Rebecca Covington Webber from Hamilton, and more. The performers will be miscast, according to the website, “turning the tables and singing songs from roles they’d never traditionally play.”
The Labor Day theater event will be the fourth installment of Broadway in the Park, and no registration is required.

Though the event is free to attend, a $15 donation is suggested. All proceeds will go directly towards SOMA Stage’s programming. Those looking to attend are encouraged to bring their family and friends, blankets, and chairs.
