Next up on your socially-distanced adventures around New Jersey — visiting the many alpaca farms the Garden State has to offer. With the rise in NJ alpaca farms, there are plenty of opportunities for these gentle giants to put a smile on you and your little ones’ faces. Check out this list of eight alpaca farms to visit in New Jersey.
Bluebird Farm Alpacas {44 Willow Avenue, Peapack}

Make a reservation here to visit Bluebird Farms Alpacas on weekends for a farm tour or farm tour with halter training. Social distancing and masks are required for all tours, where you will have multiple opportunities to feed, feel, and photograph the alpacas. Bluebird Farms is located less than an hour from Hudson County, but if you can’t swing the travel, the farm also offers virtual farm tours for purchase or you can even request an alpaca to zoom bomb your next family reunion.
Cedar Lane Alpacas {67 Victory Road, Howell}

This farm was established in 2005, the owners opened a farm store known as The Alpaca Shop in 2010, and their online store in 2018 where they sell Alpaca fleece and yarn. The farm offers tours on specific dates in October, November, and part of December. Guests can learn all about alpacas, their heritage, and care. Edel Haus Alpaca Farm {2660 Allaire Road, Wall Township}
Sitting just west of Belmar, Edel Haus Alpaca Farm spans 14-acres of land in Wall for you to visit on Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00AM—4:00PM. Schedule a visit to meet and feed the alpacas ahead of time by calling 732-890-1024. It is free to visit and each family will be placed in their own pasture alone with the alpacas to allow for social distancing.
Emelise Alpacas {73 MacKenzie Road, Hampton}
Susan & Wayne Robinson began their alpaca journey in 2002. Emelise Alpacas is committed to continuing education for ourselves, the alpaca community, and the general public, as stated on the website. Jersey Shore Alpacas {521 South Route 47, Cape May}

Come meet Leia and the rest of the alpacas at Jersey Shore Alpacas in Green Creek, near Cape May. In order to follow New Jersey regulations, you must book your trip to the farm in advance. Visit and feed carrots to the alpacas at the fence line on public days {Saturdays} by making an appointment on the website here. It is free, but donations are always welcome. To schedule a private tour during weekdays, email jsa@jerseyshorealpacas.com. For all tours, masks must be worn by anyone over two years old. After your tour, you can visit the farm store to browse the quality alpaca clothing, with many popular items also available online here.

Windy Farm Alpacas {61 White Pine Road, Chesterfield}
Established in 1999, Windy Farm Alpacas is offering small groups of six or less to schedule a time to walk in the pasture with the alpacas. Guests can also schedule a private shopping visit to buy alpaca yarn and fleece, blankets, alpaca rugs, and more. Winding Creek Alpacas {1148 Somers Point Road, Egg Harbor Township}
The owners started their alpaca journey five years ago. Having picked back up this month, Winding Creek Alpacas offers 45-minute guided tours of the farm on weekends, allowing you in the pen to hand-feed the alpacas and pose for pictures.
