Bev Lascina, chef and owner of Walnut Street Kitchen and Walnut Street Bagel Co. in Montclair, has a new project in the works. ‘Bevs,’ a double entendre short for her name and ‘beverages,’ will open at 94 Bloomfield Avenue in Nutley, taking over the former bar called COVID-94. The bar is set to open in late August or early September of this year. Read on for everything we know about Bevs Bar, the newest addition to Nutley’s food and drink scene.

Having grown up in Clifton and now calling Nutley home, Bev brings her love for the area and her flair for creative food and drinks to the communities she knows best. She’s especially passionate about bringing people together through the joy of celebrating well-crafted meals and inventive drinks.

Before becoming a chef, Bev spent about seven years studying wine and beverage while working front of house and building her foundation in the world of hospitality. Now, with the opening of Bevs, a project that’s been a year in the making, her love and appreciation for artfully crafted drinks are coming full circle.

The vision for Bevs is a warm, welcoming neighborhood bar atmosphere featuring a carefully curated selection of thoughtful and imaginative drinks. Bevs will also feature a small food menu that includes a range of snacks and other small bites, with inspiration from the Walnut Street Kitchen menu.

Bev aims to create a dining experience that fosters community and togetherness while giving customers and fellow locals a taste of what she is most passionate about.
What to expect: Bevs will have a daily happy hour, including both drink and food specials. Each week will bring a new burger special, plus a lineup of rotating themed food and drink deals.
The Bevs team will be led with the help of Margie Maak, former General Manager of Pharmacie Bar + Kitchen and a seasoned veteran of New Jersey’s culinary scene. Margie brings extensive experience from her time at acclaimed restaurants, including End of Elm and Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen in Morristown, Summit House, and Verve in Somerville, where she honed her skills and earned her reputation as a respected industry leader.
