Summer is here, which means the 4th of July 2023 weekend in the Bloomfield and Montclair area is near. A well-known highlight of a 4th of July celebration is the night-time display of the yearly fireworks. Here in northern New Jersey, several towns will be hosting 4th of July festivities with firework shows to follow. There are many ways to celebrate locally in towns like Montclair, Bloomfield, Cedar Grove, Livingston, and beyond. Read on for a list of locations to see 4th of July fireworks in Essex County and other nearby New Jersey areas for this national holiday.

Where to Watch July 4th Fireworks in Montclair + Bloomfield

Bloomfield/Montclair | Brookdale Park, Watchung + Bellevue Avenues

Monday, July 3rd | 7:30PM 

The Ivy at Chatham

Brookdale Park will be the center of the action for this Montclair/Bloomfield 4th of July celebration. This free festival will have live performances, followed by the pop and crackle of fireworks at dusk.

Where to Watch July 4th Fireworks in Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove Fireworks Display | Panther Park, 118 West Bradford Avenue, Cedar Grove

Thursday, June 29th | 7PM – 9:30PM

Gates open for this Cedar Grove display at 7PM. There will be music, refreshments, food, along with fireworks. In case of bad weather, there’s a rain date of June 30th, 2023. 

Where to Watch July 4th Fireworks in Livingston

Livingston July 4th Celebration | Memorial Oval on Robert Harp Drive, Livingston

Monday, July 4th | 9AM – 11PM 

Livingston’s 4th of July celebration includes children’s programs, food trucks, a beer garden, live music, and a car show. From 7:30PM – 9PM, there will be a performance by The Real Diamond Band, an Neil Diamond Tribute. At 9PM, the fireworks show will start. More information on this event can be found here.

Where to Watch July 4th Fireworks in Millburn + Short Hills

Millburn-Short Hills | Millburn High School, 462 Millburn Avenue, Millburn

Tuesday, July 4th | 9AM + 7:30PM

This celebration will have both a morning and night program. A DJ will provide music, and food and ice cream trucks will provide sustenance while waiting for the fireworks to begin. The fireworks will begin at 9:30PM. You can click here to learn more.

Newark | Weequahic Park, Elizabeth and Meeker Avenues, Newark

Wednesday, June 28th | 7:30PM

The Fourth of July comes a little early in Newark. On June 28th, there will be a Fireworks Spectacular show that will follow a lineup of performers.

Where to Watch July 4th Fireworks in Verona

Verona Fireworks | Verona Community Center, 880 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona

Friday, June 30th | 7PM

This Verona event will start 7PM with a DJ, dancing, and entertainment. Fireworks will follow at dusk, at around 9:15PM. In case of bad weather, there’s a rain date of Wednesday, July 5th.

Allendale Fireworks | Crestwood Lake, Allendale

July 4th

Allendale’s biggest annual 4th of July Celebration is back. This event is family-friendly with many activities for all to enjoy. It begins at 7AM and ends with their fireworks show at 9PM. Learn more about this event here.

Where to Watch Fireworks in Fair Lawn

Fair Lawn Fireworks | Memorial Park, 1st Street + Lambert Road, Fair Lawn

June 29th

Fair Lawn will be hosting a fireworks show on Saturday, July 2nd at Memorial Park. This event will allow the public to come in at 6:45 PM and the fireworks will begin at 9PM. Paramus Fireworks | W Jockish Square, Paramus

July 2nd

On Sunday, July 2nd from 4:30PM to 10PM, everyone is invited to come watch fireworks at W Jockish Square in Paramus.

Where to Watch Fireworks in Ramsey

Ramsey Fireworks | Finch Park, 315 Island Road, Ramsey

July 1st

This event will be an Independence Day celebration followed by a fireworks show. It will be held at Finch Park starting at 6PM on Saturday, July 1st.

Where to Watch Fireworks in Ridgewood

Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration | Veteran’s Field, North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood

July 4th

Ridgewood will be hosting its 113th annual Fourth of July celebration. Gates open at 6PM, and there will be music, food trucks, and fireworks. Presale tickets are $12 for everybody or $16 for adults at the door. You can buy tickets here.

Where to Watch Fireworks in East Rutherford

State Fair Meadowlands | 1 Metlife Stadium Drive, East Rutherford

July 3rd and 4th

Though this event is officially running for a full 18 days from June 22nd – July 9th, there will only be fireworks on July 3rd and 4th. There will be food, drinks, games, and even free entertainment this year. The fireworks will take place after dark + will be viewable anywhere on the fairgrounds.
