On June 23rd, Montclair Film and Out Montclair announced a year-long partnership to collaborate on special events during Montclair Film’s festivals and Montclair Pride 2022. The two organizations will focus on LGBTQ+ stories in film and programming for youth and adults, according to the press release.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Out Montclair for our screening this Saturday and look forward to continuing our collaboration during the 10th annual Montclair Film Festival, Montclair Pride 2022, and beyond,” said Tom Hall, Executive Director of Montclair Film in the press release.

“One of the founding principles of Out Montclair was to include art in nearly everything we do,” said Peter Yacobellis, President of Out Montclair. “Montclair Film has long been a destination for artists and a point of pride for our community as one of the preeminent artistic institutions in the State of New Jersey and nationwide. This partnership will elevate LGBTQ stories and increase understanding and acceptance for all in our community. We couldn’t be more excited for the year ahead together.”
The Events
The first event will take place this Saturday, June 26th at Lackawanna Plaza and feature a screening of the film “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar,” which includes scenes filmed in Montclair. The plaza will open at 7PM.
Tom Hall and Peter Yacobellis will deliver remarks prior to the screening at 8PM.
There will be additional events that will be announced in the months ahead.
