Montclair Pride Festival Announces 2024 Date

One of Montclair’s most festive happenings is returning for 2024. Local non-profit Out Montclair recently announced the date for the third annual Montclair Pride Festival, which will take place on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, and include entertainment, vendors, activities, and much more. The festival is not just a one-day event to celebrate our amazing LGBTQ+ community and its allies — it’s a full celebration that includes multiple events leading up to the festival date. The list of events is constantly being updated. Check Out Montclair’s website as the festival gets closer for the most up-to-date information. The events leading up to the festival right now include:

  • Raucous Rainbow Rumble Comedy Night: Friday, May 31st
  • Pride Ride + Picnic: Sunday, June 2nd
  • Pride Drag Show: Monday, June 3rd
  • Pride Reception: Wednesday, June 5th
  • Doughnuts + Drag: Thursday, June 6th

^ The first-ever Montclair Pride festival in 2022

The 2024 Montclair Pride Festival will take place on Saturday, June 8th in downtown Montclair. Locals and visitors can enjoy three stages of live entertainment (including musicians, dancers, + spoken word artists), a family fun zone, as well as over 150 local vendors including food + drink vendors, food trucks, LGBTQ+ owned businesses, artisans, crafters, community organizations, and more from 12PM-6PM. There will also be a street dance party from 6PM-9:30PM, and an after-party (details are TBD).

“We are incredibly excited to bring Montclair Pride back to our community for its third year,” Marie Cottrell, Executive Director at Out Montclair, said in a press release. “Montclair Pride is not just a festival; it’s a celebration of who we are as a community, and a testament to the values we hold dear – equality, authenticity, acceptance and love.”

About Out Montclair + Past Festivals

Out Montclair was founded in 2021 as a non-profit organization to support and provide solidarity for LGBTQIA+ individuals in and around Montclair. The organization hosts events to bring the community together and provide safe spaces to find friendship, camaraderie, and resources for people of all ages. Reflecting the community of creative, compassionate, and fun-loving LGBTQIA+ individuals who live in and around Montclair, this volunteer-run organization places a special focus on programs specifically designed for teens, 21+, families, and 50+.

Out Montclair has had considerable support from the get-go when it first launched in 2021. The non-profit describes the community as steeped with talent in the creative arts, communications, culture, business, and community-building. This organization provides a unifying organization to bring out the creative and committed community members to design events and create space for learning and understanding for non-LGBTQIA+ individuals.

The first-ever Montclair Pride Festival was held on Saturday, June 11th, 2022 in Downtown Montclair. It had an impressive turnout, with nearly 100 vendors and sponsors from Montclair and the surrounding areas, and drew an estimated crowd of about 15,000 attendees. Local restaurants + businesses showcased delicious food and locally-made products in booths for festival-goers to enjoy. The festival then returned for 2023 on Saturday, June 11th.
