Music will fill the streets of Montclair again for Porchfest on May 16th, 2026. Hundreds of bands will be taking over porches and front lawns across town during this free music festival. This year, there’s a special finale at Lackawanna Station. Members of the New York and Philadelphia Chapters of the Recording Academy will perform, bringing their Grammy®-winning talents to Montclair. Here’s what we know about Montclair Porchfest 2026.
About The Music Festival
Montclair Porchfest is a free music festival that transforms neighborhoods into a series of little stages. Festival attendees can walk around and visit front porches that become musical stages for local bands, artists, and musicians. Porchfest started in Montclair 2025 and had over 300 bands participate during its inaugural festival.

This year, over 220 bands are scheduled to perform throughout the day on porches across town. Expect all genres of music, from indie rock to folk, soul, jazz, and even some experimental sounds.

The grand finale starts at 5PM at Lackawanna Station. Artists from the Recording Academy’s New York and Philadelphia Chapters will take over the stage, delivering performances with Grammy®-nominated and Grammy®-winning talent.

“This unique collaboration elevates the festival to new heights, blending grassroots community performances with nationally recognized artistry,” Porchfest organizers told MG.
The Recording Academy is an organization of musicians, producers, engineers, and recording professionals, dedicated to celebrating music while improving the quality of life for music and its makers. It is famously known for hosting the Grammy® Awards each year, which represent the highest level of achievement in the recording arts.
You can bike, scooter, or just walk around with your family during the shows. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs, water, and maybe an umbrella if there’s rain in the forecast. (There is no rain date for Porchfest).

Festival organizers say the best way to experience the music festival is by using the Downtown Montclair app. On the day of the festival, users will be able to access an interactive map of the performances, band lineups, porch locations, vendors, and information about sponsors.
