The Ivy at Chatham

NiCori Kids Performance Ensemble Class: JAMES & THE GIANT PEACH

Wednesday, September 22nd-December 11th | 5PM-6:30PM

NiCori Kids Performance Ensemble is dedicated to students ages 10-14 who love musical theatre. NiCori Studios & Productions will produce JAMES & THE GIANT PEACH which will feature the NiCori Kids Performance Ensemble. This skill-building course will focus on the core elements of musical theater with a specific focus on acting while singing. The class will culminate with performances of the musical JAMES & THE GIANT PEACH on December 10, and 11, 2021. No audition is required to be accepted into this program. Outdoor Yoga at Van Vleck House

Wednesday, September 22nd | 6PM-7PM | Every Wednesday in September

Join an outdoor yoga session at Van Vleck House every Wednesday at 6PM. This class welcomes all levels from beginner to experienced yogis. Please note mats will be spaced at least 6 feet apart, and participants required to practice social distancing and wear a mask at all times except while practicing on your mat. Beginners Flow Yoga

Burn Phase One: Origins and Activism with Antoinette Ellis Williams

The BURN Project is a multi-disciplinary visual, poetic, literary and ethnographic study on how history, socio-political, cultural, economic, and familial relationships shape identity, reality and healing Black American women. The project is divided into three phases (1) Origin and Activism, (2) Representation, Body, Beauty & Girlhood, and (3) Healing & Memory. The opening reception will be on Sept. 24th and an artist talk with Antoinette Ellis Williams will be on Sept. 25th. Williams is the Chair of the Women’s and Gender Studies Department at NJCU. The Most Good 5K Sponsored by The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Montclair Citadel will host The Most Good 5K September 25th-27th and it will be a virtual race, as of right now. Organizers will announce if the race will also take place in person. When you sign up for the race, your money will help serve 50-60 lunches each Monday-Wednesday, provide safe, clean emergency shelter for families, a place for the homeless to shower, provide the toiletries and a change of clothes, provide case management for the homeless, and homeless prevention services to those needing assistance to stabilize their housing and more. Diaper Drive-Thru Donation Event

MAM Premieres New Exhibits

Essex County to Administer Covid-19 Booster Shots

Essex County announced that it will administer booster shots to those who are immunocompromised, by appointment only, at its vaccination centers at Kmart in West Orange and Essex County College in Newark. According to the CDC and the FDA, people are considered to have a compromised immune system if they are fighting a disease, undergoing medical treatments or have received an organ transplant. Ways to Give Back Locally

Big Brother Big Sister Essex {500 Broad Street, Newark} 

Serving Hudson, Essex, and Union Counties, this chapter of Big Brother Big Sister is looking for volunteers who are ready to make a positive impact on the lives of “littles” in the community. With a time, commitment of just about four hours per month, a world of difference can be made for the students involved in the program. ‘Bigs’ are asked to engage with ‘littles’ through age-appropriate activities and conversation that will showcase more of what the world has to offer. Covenant House New Jersey {330 Washington Street, Newark}

For anyone interested in working with young people and have lots of skills to offer, Covenant House needs support. Direct service volunteers can lead workshops and courses such as yoga, meditation, music, fitness, job readiness, parenting, and more. Volunteers must commit to at least 6 months of consistent service to help foster a stable environment for those benefiting from the services. Learn more here.


House of Love Soup Kitchen/Pantry {589-95 Central Avenue, Newark} 

Completely run by volunteers, the House of Love Soup Kitchen serves about 30 persons every Tuesday for two hours. In addition to a hot nutritious meal, guests receive spiritual guidance, connection to resources of other non-profits in the area, and ‘care packages’ of perishable and non-perishable goods.
