Meet Mocha, a 2-year-old American Pitbull Terrier who’s looking for a new home. She’s an all-around great pup – she knows basic commands, is house-trained, walks well on a leash, and loves to play. Read on to learn more about Mocha and how to adopt her from the Bloomfield Animal Shelter.
Breed: American Pitbull Terrier
Weight: 55 lbs
Ideal Home: Mocha will fit best in a home with adults and older children only, preferably one that works from home or is not out of the house for long periods of time.
Kids: Small kids are not recommended, but older kids should be okay.
Dogs: A meet and greet is required first. She seems to prefer some dogs over others.
Crate-Trained: Not recommended. She does not like to be crated and should be left to roam free in a home. When crated, she will cry for hours and is likely experiencing separation anxiety.
House Trained: Yes
Other training: Mocha knows basic commands like sit, stay, and paw.
Leash Manners: Mocha walks well on a leash.
Personality: Mocha is a sweet, playful girl who loves to be around people. When she is free-roaming, she is calm, gentle, and loves to play with toys. She takes treats and toys gently from your hand and loves to go on walks and play off-leash in the play yard. She is trying her best to adjust to life in the shelter, while longing for a home to feel safe in.
Why she/he was brought to the rescue: Mocha was found walking around town by herself on Christmas night and brought to the shelter by Animal Control. She was wearing a collar and was very shy at first, which led Bloomfield Animal Shelter to believe an owner missed her as much as she missed them. Sadly, she was never reclaimed and is hoping for a new home of her own.
