Taqueria Los Gueros is sweeping northern New Jersey as one of the top taco joints, with 15 locations and counting. Now, we’re diving into what’s behind the doors of this retro, 1950s diner-esque, chrome building. Bloomfield Avenue was the sixth taqueria opened, and while it’s the smallest, it’s still bursting with flavor. About Taqueria Los Gueros
According to the company’s Instagram, the idea for sharing Tacos Al Pastor with others in New Jersey was born in 2005 by three Güeros brothers, who opened the first location in 2009 in Passaic. They started by selling baked chickens out of their homes before quitting their jobs to take a risk on a shared dream. Fast forward to today, and Taqueria Los Gueros is a successful mini-chain with locations all across northern New Jersey. The Bloomfield Avenue taqueria is intimate, with a counter to order from and a few stools.

The Tacos
As the brothers envisioned, Taqueria Los Gueros is known for its Tacos Al Pastor. The meat comes from the signature ‘trompo’ featured in the logo – a gyro-looking, vertical rotating spit of pork piled, marinated, and roasted to be shaved off and served.
Other taco meat options include carnitas (pulled pork), pollo (chicken), bistec (steak), tripa (intestine meat), lengua (beef tongue), chorizo (pork sausage), chuleta (pork chop), fish, and shrimp. The tacos come in a variety of ways: the original Los Tacos (flour corn tortillas topped with onions and cilantro), Mexicanos (corn tortillas topped with pico de gallo and avocado), Chilangos (flour tortillas topped with pico de gallo and avocado), Americanos (flour tortillas topped with melted mozzarella and avocado), Placeros (corn tortillas with rice and pickled jalapenos), Gringos (flour tortillas topped with lettuce, tomato, and mozzarella), and more.
Additional Details
Taqueria Los Gueros also serves an assortment of tortas, alambres, burritos, plates, and small bites. The menu features a couple of items for kids and family packs serving five to six people. The store sells different flavors of authentic Mexican soda, Jarritos, and homemade juices (don’t sleep on the Horchata!) to wash everything down.

Daily specials for $6.99 are available across all locations, including Torta Monday, Taco Tuesday, Quesadilla Wednesday, Burrito Thursday, and Chicken Sunday. The restaurant also provides taco bar catering and pop-ups at events across the area.
The Bloomfield Avenue taqueria is open Monday through Thursday from 10AM to 10PM; Friday and Saturday from 11AM to 3AM (great for late-night snacking); and Sunday from 10AM to 11PM.
