The Food

To start, the for-the-table share plates hit all of the staples: guacamole, nachos, flautas, and even a flamed queso dip. But, Agave Maria takes them to the next level by combining them with dishes like seasonal empanadas, Mole wings, corn squites, and even a selection of ceviche inspired by the seasons.

Handcrafted street tacos are also served in groups of three and include flavors like birria, al pastor, camaron and, for vegetarians, cauliflower. There’s also a “Cholula Pyramid” option available, which serves at least two people and curates all of the street tacos into one delicious, shareable place. But, it’s important to note that the pyramid is not available on the weekends.

Main dishes are a selection of Mexican fare, from a Salmon du Sur which is baked in banana leaves and served with roasted potatoes, to an Ensalada en Tulum, made with watermelon and pomegranate, to a Cafecito Rib Eye, served in 10-ounce portions with a dark roast coffee rub. And, every table is also served a portion of rice and beans for good measure.

The Drinks

A selection of both traditional and unique cocktails populate the cocktail menu at Agave Maria. Guests can sip on the $13 Margarita de Agave, which is made with Jose Cuervo Tradicional, agave, and fresh lime juice and offered in passionfruit, mango, and guava flavors as well as the traditional offering, or instead opt for the $16 Designer Cartel, which is crafted with Mexican Prickly Pear Gin, Aperol, sparkling lemonade and prosecco. Other options include a frozen margarita and a Paloma.

The Vibe

Decorated skulls, exposed brick, wood beam walls, and ornate wall mirrors all come together to create a chic atmosphere that’s nothing short of Instagram-worthy. There are also pops of color in the form of bright napkins, bold colors on parts of the walls, and even bright fabrics on chairs and booths.

The multi-level space offers different vibes in different sections, but one of the most notable installations is a live wall featuring greenery and a neon restaurant sign. It meets a disco ball, pop-out agave wall decals, and intricate cups and plates to create a luxe, chic experience.

There’s even a hidden speakeasy inside the space where cocktails come with dry ice smoke and are served inside skull cups. Guests can enter the secret area behind a wall mirror that serves as a door. The section, called The Xaman Room speakeasy, is located on the second floor and available on a first-come, first-serve basis on Fridays and Saturdays from 7PM to close. Private parties can also be accommodated inside the space, and reservations can be made online.
