Compassionate Counseling for Individual, Couples + Families

After being in individual private practice for a few years, Rebecca Gillespie, Roxanne Ruiz-Adams, and Carla Vitola opened a group practice in Montclair in 2021. All three therapists were trained at the same intensive family therapy training center between 2011 and 2015 with the plan to open a practice rooted in evidence-based expertise and compassion with a reputation for dependability + respect

“We have worked hard to build a team of diverse, experienced, and dedicated therapists who are passionate about providing counseling support to individuals, couples, and families. We know how important it is to take your entire life experience and identity into account when helping you navigate your present struggles,” Roxanne told The Montclair Girl. “Each of our therapists has extensive training in systemic psychotherapy — meaning we are qualified to treat individuals, adolescents, couples, and families for all manner of therapeutic needs.”

Therapists at this local practice are especially qualified to help clients who are dealing with LGBTQIA+ related challenges, racial trauma, family conflict, and who are sexual assault survivors, plus more. Therapists incorporate family work into the therapy process where needed, all while maintaining a comfortable and welcoming environment

Meet The Directors at Tri-Meta Counseling

As a systemically-trained therapist, Rebecca Gillespie, MA, LMFT, has experience treating depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems, and transitional issues with individuals, couples, and families. Her extensive knowledge in family therapy allows her to treat not only the individual but also the entire family of origin, when appropriate.

Throughout her years of experience, both in private practice and medical oncology, Roxanne Ruiz-Adams, DSW, LCSW, has worked with individuals, couples, and families as they face change. In individual therapy, she helps clients develop healthy coping tools. In family + couples counseling, she helps clients identify the patterns and culprits of unhappiness.

Carla Vitola, MA, LMFT, works with individuals, couples, and families struggling with various stages of life, adjustment related issues, LGBTQ+ related issues, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual assault, addiction, and relationship problems. Her focus is providing guidance toward positive change + transformation with a balance of empathy and honesty.

Along with the founders at Tri-Meta, there are 8 additional team members who are skilled and passionate about providing empathetic and affirming care to their clients.

Free Consultations for New Clients

One aspect that sets Tri-Meta Counseling apart from the rest is the team’s collaborative approach to helping clients. While the client only sees one therapist, the team collaborates on each case which gives the client a whole team of therapists who are involved in providing the best care. The team understands the importance of having a client-therapist relationship founded in trust so new clients can explore with a free 15-minute consultation to find the best match.

“New clients come to us at such vulnerable times in their lives — watching clients regain confidence and overcome challenges that have bogged them down for so many years is the most rewarding part of being a practice owner,” Carla shared. “It’s rewarding knowing that even when therapy ends, a client will be able to look back on our relationship and remember how to get through a problem.”

Clients can choose to hold their weekly sessions in-person or virtually, depending on their schedule and comfort level.

Don’t forget you can find the best fit at Tri-Meta Counseling with a free 15-minute phone consultation.
