Kit

Name: Kit

The Ivy at Chatham

Breed: Maltese Poodle mix

Age: 5 months

Gender: Male

Weight: Around 10 pounds

Ideal Home: Kit will need a family who is home more often than not to spend time training and playing with him.

Kids: 6+

Dogs: Yes — Kit loves other dogs and would benefit from having one to show him the ropes.

Cats: Yes

Crate-Trained: Working on it — he cries at first but then settles down and does well.

House Trained: Working on it — with a consistent schedule, Kit is going to the bathroom outside, but still sometimes has accidents inside.

Other training: Kit is very young and is working on puppy manners and basic obedience. He will need continued training to help him become the best dog he can be. Prior to coming to WISE, he was never in a home before so he is still learning how to walk on a leash and go up and down steps.

Personality: Kit had a rough start to life. With time, he has blossomed into the sweetest, most loving puppy. He loves to play with his brother and wrestle. He is very laid back and easygoing. Kit can still be shy at times, but he is a complete mush and sweetheart. He is so gentle and wouldn’t hurt a fly. Kit loves to cuddle and will plop himself in your lap.

Why he came to the rescue: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Kit were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them.

Breed: Maltese

Age: Saranac is 10 and Hudson is 9.

Gender: Male

Weight: Saranac is 9 pounds and Hudson is 11 pounds.

Ideal Home: Saranac would love to go home with his buddy, Hudson, so much so that their foster mom refers to them as “Ham and Cheese” since they are always together. They are looking for a home that will work on building their confidence and give them the time they need to come out of their shell. They are both such wonderful, deserving dogs who are ready to shine. They just need some extra love and patience.

Kids: Yes, but kids who are aged 10 and older, as they would do best in a low-activity household.

Dogs: Yes — Saranac and Hudson love other dogs and are currently being fostered with one. They would love to have another doggy sibling in their forever home.

Cats: Yes

Crate-Trained: Yes — the crate is their safe place.

House Trained: Working on it.

Other Training: Saranac and Hudson had little socialization before coming to WISE due to their past life. They need a patient, understanding family who will work on their training and socialization.

Leash Manners: Saranac and Hudson have never been walked on a leash and are still learning.

Personalities: Hudson is the sweetest senior with a spirit of a puppy. He is goofy, loveable, and the cuddliest. He loves head scratching, being picked up, and spending time resting his head on you. He loves treats and attention and meeting new people. Saranac is a gentle, curious, and Inquisitive boy. Saranac is very attentive to Hudson. The two are inseparable and love each other’s company, they do not like to be separated. Saranac likes to always keep an eye on Ham (Hudson) and acts as the cautious big brother in the pair. He wants so much love but his past has made him afraid of humans. He gets startled easily by sudden movements but in a calm + quiet room is happy to sit nearby, especially if you are with his Ham.

Why they came to the rescue: Saranac and Hudson were rescued from a horrible puppy mill situation where they were used for breeding most of their lives When they were determined “unfit” to be used in the ‘breeding program’, they were going to be euthanized.
