Welcome to The Montclair Girl, a culture + lifestyle woman-owned news site for Montclair and its surrounding Essex County areas, brought to you by the team behind The Hoboken Girl.
When I started The Hoboken Girl, it was just me, a school counselor working in Bloomfield, New Jersey — wanting to explore the local neighborhood I lived in. Since that time in 2012, it’s grown into a site with a small team that has devoted itself to publishing unique lifestyle content, personal stories, local news, and has earned a coveted reputation of discovering what is new + fun in the Northern New Jersey area, all through the eyes of locals, reaching millions throughout New Jersey. We are inspired by the voices of our area, more specifically, of the multitude of voices that are contained within our small communities.
Our aim with this sister site of The Montclair Girl in Essex County is to do the same; our writers are locals who write about what they love, the people that bring us joy in the neighborhood, business owners and unique stories, hidden gems, and local landmarks. We showcase the beauty of local life: the corner stores, coffee shops, a self-care treatment, local happenings, positive stories, giving back, detailed-but-factual accounts of what’s taking place around town, and of course — the vibrant, diverse communities that make our area what it is today.
This pandemic brought about challenges that we never ever would have dreamt of — setbacks, stress, sleepless nights and worry — but it also brought us the knowledge that local community media is the core of many communities, and vitally needed in our everyday lives.
Use our website to read daily articles from our writers, plan your weekends, and get caught up on local news on the weekends. Interact with us, email us, send us news tips, join our Facebook group, share your stories, let us know what you want to read and learn about — because YOU make this community go ‘round.
Everywhere we look, whether it’s the new boutique on the scene, a generations-old bakery frequented by locals, or a new non-profit worth giving back to — there is writing inspiration to be found. We want to find the beauty + joy in everyday local living, and we hope you’ll follow along.
Warmly,
Jennifer Casson Tripucka + The Montclair Girl Team
