A new ramen and sushi bar with a unique angle has opened up this spring in West Orange. The new spot, called Kinya — which means ‘gold’ in Japanese — markets itself as the house of golden ramen both literally and figuratively. Not only does the restaurant hope to provide an elevated, one-of-a-kind ‘golden’ experience, but it actually serves two dishes and one drink with 24K gold flecks. Here’s what you need to know about Kinya, the new golden ramen ans sushi bar located at 495 Prospect Avenue in West Orange.

The Kinya Golden Experience

Kinya in West Orange serves up sushi, ramen, and drinks — with a little something extra. Diners have the option to try the Kinya Ramen (pork broth with black garlic, ginger, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and a seasoned boiled egg), Kinya Roll (shrimp tempura and avocado topped with spicy tuna, salmon, mango, tobiko, eel, and spicy sauce), or Kinya Old Fashioned (premium whiskey, Demerara sugar, and bitters luxardo cherry) — all with actual 24K gold inside. There’s also a special Kinya Experience option that includes all the ramen, the roll, and the drink for $42.

“We pride ourselves on the meaning of our name, gold! Gold is fine, pure, and unmatched to any other metal. That is the experience we are giving the customers every-time they eat here at Kinya. We love our authentic Japanese foods and flavors with fun twists,” Mei, the head of brand awareness, told The Montclair Girl.

Kinya has a Daruma Character to represent its restaurant. A Daruma is a symbol of Bodhidharma, who was a monk said to have introduced Zen Buddhism to China. According to Kinya’s website, the Daruma “is a recognizable symbol of perseverance and good luck in Japanese culture. The one-eyed Kinya Daruma mascot is a visual representation of our continuing quest to provide high-quality food and service for our guests. His determined expression and bold look make the Kinya Daruma recognizable and memorable.”
