The joy of living in a small suburban town is that everything is relatively within reach. Even so, there are those few local businesses that you want to live next door to; that the 10-minute drive somehow feels too far away. Montclair coffee shop Java Love is one of those businesses, and if you live near the corner of Bay Street and Glendridge Avenue, you’re in luck. The power duo behind Java Love has announced that a third independent Montclair location is in the works. The newest Java Love is taking over the former Diesel and Duke outpost, a burger joint relocating to Church Street later this spring. About Java Love
In 2011, Jodie Dawson and Kristine Petrik opened Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. in Upstate New York, after noticing a need for good coffee in the Catskill area. The shop was small and earnest, driven by the duo’s passion, hard work, and need for caffeine.

Two years later, Jodie and Kristine noticed a similar lack of community-based coffee shops in Montclair and ventured to open Java Love’s second-ever outpost. The shop’s selection of coffee, tea, espresso, blends, and assorted pastries instantly grew popular in town — but the come-as-you-are attitude solidified Java Love as a local staple.
Java Love has two independent locations in Montclair (49 Church Street and 244 Bellevue Avenue) and a storefront on the Montclair State University campus. While coffee comes first, Java Love has become so much more: a place to hold business meetings, for kids to hang out, and a family-friendly space for all.

The new storefront is taking over the former Diesel + Duke location, which just last week, announced plans to relocate to Church Street. You can read about the move here.
Java Love’s third Montclair location is slated to open at 39 Glenridge Avenue sometime soon. The team shared with MG that a third outpost felt like a natural next step: “We made the conscious decision to focus hyperlocal in the community we have lived in, raised a family in, and loved for the last 15 years.” As for the actual geographic location, Jodie and Kristine are “looking forward to being almost right on the train tracks for commuters.”
Fan favorite coffees and other beverages have a secured spot on the menu, but the new storefront will also feature a small kitchen for breakfast and lunch items like breakfast sandwiches, wraps, and healthy smoothies.
