It is officially the holiday season here in Essex County. From festive pop-up bars and holiday markets to visiting Santa and shopping for gifts (PS: we have 20+ local deals in our 2024 holiday shopping guide), the holidays here in Essex County are truly second to none. It’s time to add a few more events to your list because Montclair is hosting two more holiday tree lightings this December. The Upper Montclair Business Association hosted its Upper Montclair Business District Tree Lighting on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 5PM to 7PM, on the Lawn of St. James’ Church (581 Valley Road). The event featured food, treats, raffle baskets, carolers, Beyond the Boogie Performers, Montclair Passing Notes performers, a kids’ craft table, and of course, a visit from Ol’ Saint Nick himself. Montclair Township’s Holiday Tree Lighting is happening Wednesday, December 4th during Montclair Recreation + Cultural Affairs’ Winterfest Snowflake Spectacular. The tree lighting starts at 6PM, but activities kick off at 5PM in Edgemont Park. Festivities include holiday music, kid-friendly activities, inflatables, a trackless train, a holiday magic show, and appearances from Santa, the Montclair Community Band, a toy soldier, snowmen, and a DJ. Montclair’s South End Tree Lighting will take place on Friday, December 13th from 5PM to 7PM at 306 Orange Road. The event is presented by 4th Ward Counselor Amina Toler and Downtown Montclair, featuring refreshments, holiday activities, live music by the @sinclairadinamusic Quartet, and photos with the queen of Christmas, Mrs. Claus. Bobbi Brown + Steven Plofker Launch Williams Sonoma x The George Holiday Collection
For some, the best part about the holiday season is the beautiful home decor, from twinkling Christmas trees to festive decorative accents. To add to the holiday shopping list is Williams Sonoma Home x The George — a collection by Bobbi Brown and her husband Steven Plofker in collaboration with Williams Sonoma Home — which launched today, Tuesday, November 12th. About The George
The Williams Sonoma Home x The George is inspired by The George, a historic hotel in Montclair owned and renovated by Bobbi and Steven, located at 37 North Mountain Avenue #2317 in Montclair.
This once-forgotten hotel, comprised of 31 rooms, dates back to 1902 when it was a private home for Charles Van Vleck. The property was given landmark status in 2008 and was purchased by Bobbi and Steven in 2012. The George was the couple’s first creative collaboration, with Bobbi taking on the role of Creative Director and Steven as the developer who oversaw the remodeling process.

This hotel, with its upscale, chic design, is a hidden gem in Montclair. Being only twelve miles from NYC, people travel from all over to stay at this historic spot.
Bobbi and Steven have infused their own aesthetic into the space's styling using Williams Sonoma Home x The George. Items from the holiday collection are featured throughout the hotel, including in the historic paneled library.

Bobbi Brown, an entrepreneur, hotelier, and makeup artist best known for her brands Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and Jones Road Beauty, and her husband Steven Plofker are collaborating with Williams Sonoma Home — a sustainability business specializing in everything from furniture to cutlery to home essentials — to launch a holiday capsule collection on November 12th.
Williams Sonoma Home x The George features curtains, pillows, bedding, rugs, frames, leather boxes, barware, and desk accessories, among other things. Customers can expect the vibes of this collection to include masculine aesthetics, British motifs, and dogs.

For Bobbi and Steven, partnering with Williams Sonoma Home was what they called a “joy.” “Williams Sonoma immediately understood our vision and together, we created a group of limited edition items that I’m very proud of,” Bobbi said via a statement.
