We’re Taking a Break — And You Should, Too

Dear MG readers and friends,

As 2021 ends, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to you (and let you know our OOOs are up til the new year!). It’s because of you that we are still able to do what we love to do — write, inquire, share memes (truly!), and create community.

While launching in 2021 presented unique challenges for many others, we remained true to our purpose: to shine a light on the local small-owned businesses, people, organizations, and missions of all industries and backgrounds. We aim to uplift, inform, and encourage our readers to join us in celebrating how special our communities are.

While most media outlets continue to publish over the holidays, we are taking a decisive stance to pause. That means you may see a few pre-scheduled fun things go out this next holiday week between Christmas and New Year’s on social and the site, but that’s it. However, I’m giving my team a full week off, despite the anxiety of not working or covering content for a week. And that includes our social team! We’re all taking a much-needed rest.

The Ivy at Chatham

Our out-of-office messages are up, our DMs will have an auto-reply, and we’ll be a bit off the grid starting Christmas Day for the week. Monday, 1/3, we’ll be back with regular content. You’re welcome to send us tips at any time to hello@montclairgirl.com + @themontclairgirl — but they’ll be read upon our return.

Hopefully, this is also the sign you needed to know that it’s okay to take a break. It’s so important to recharge. We are all burnt out. Watch that reality show, read that book, clean that closet — whatever makes you feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to start 2022 on a positive note.

We want you to know how much we appreciate every DM, comment, share, like, read, and email — it’s what keeps us going. Thank you for an amazing first year, Montclair. Have a wonderful, safe, and healthy holiday — and see you in 2022.

And now, a few pics of our team with their families! Happy holidays to you and yours <3
