Breast Cancer Awareness Month Events in North Jersey

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it serves as a timely reminder that early detection and yearly screenings are vital in the fight against breast cancer. All month long, businesses and organizations in the area are committed to doing their part by spreading awareness and commemorating the lives of those that have been lost to the disease. There is no shortage of events this year and ways to get involved including in-person walks, virtual races, pop-up shops, blood drives, fundraisers, and even getting buzzed on some pink drinks all for a great cause. Read on to learn more about the local Breast Cancer Awareness events happening in the area.

North Jersey Events

Support Our Girls Virtual Race

Join Moon Joggers for the seventh annual Breast Cancer Awareness themed virtual race: Support Our Girls: No One Fights Alone race which includes 1 Mile, 5K, 10K, 13.1, and 26.2-mile races. Moon Joggers honors all women who are courageously battling this disease. The event is $25 and 20% of the proceeds of every registration will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. Hoboken Resident’s Real Men Wear Pink Fundraiser for American Cancer Society

Hoboken resident, James Ristagno, is raising funds for The American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink fundraiser. His mom, Diane, has survived breast cancer twice so this is a cause that is close to his heart. Read his complete mission statement + donate here.

Houlihan’s restaurant is donating a dollar to the National Breast Cancer Foundation from every Pink Pomtini that they sell from 10/1-10/31.


Little Hoboken

Now-October 31st | 702 Clinton Street, Hoboken

Little Hoboken is once again hosting their Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser all month long as well as the virtual silent auction which will be held on October 27th. More details will be posted on the auction — follow @littlehoboken on Instagram for updates. Additionally, they have teamed up with several local businesses to encourage spending in the community + donating. Sales of select items from the following businesses will help raise proceeds for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Jersey City.


Virtual Breast Health Seminar with Holy Name Medical Center

October is breast health awareness month and while there is a global movement aimed at decreasing the incidence of breast cancer through prevention, screening, and early detection, Dr. Yadyra Rivera will discuss other health issues to be aware of year-round that are not related to cancer. Toms River Breast Cancer Awareness Month Blood Drive

New Jersey Blood Services is hosting a blood drive on October 7th, 1PM-7PM at the St. Andrew United Methodist Church to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. RSVP here.


American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

October 10th | 8AM | Liberty State Park, Jersey City

American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer returns to Liberty State Park on October 10th. Put on your pink gear and join this walk with a rolling, staggered start from 8AM-10AM. Be sure to check in and start walking before 10AM to ensure you experience the full event and walk route. RSVP here.


Love Your Body Virtual Race

October 10th-October 31st 

Join Moon Joggers for the Second Annual Love Your Body virtual race. 1 mile, 5k, 10k, 13.1, and 26.2 virtual races are available — you choose which distance you want to complete. You will receive a medal with a mirror on it that reads, “Remove the ‘I Want You to Like Me’ sticker from your forehead and place it on the mirror where it belongs.”, a quote from Susan Jeffers. The race celebrates the beautiful and unique bodies we each have. Races can be completed anytime in October. For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Moon Joggers will be donating at least 20% of each registration to The Pink Fund, an organization that provides 90-day non-medical cost-of-living expenses to breast cancer patients in active treatment for breast cancer, so they can focus on healing, raising their families, and returning to the workplace. Bella Luce’s Breast Cancer Fundraiser

Dr. Julie DiGioia’s Tricky Tray

Join Hall-DiGioia Surgical Center for Breast Care on October 14th to benefit community breast cancer education and support group services in Hudson County at the Zeppelin Hall Biergarten in Jersey City. Each ticket purchased includes participation in the basket Tricky Tray, one drink ticket, $25 in raffle tickets, and a votive candle to honor and remember friends, neighbors, and family. Rochelle’s 50th Birthday Brunch Celebration

Englewood Health’s Virtual Walk for Awareness

October 24th | 1PM-3PM | 350 Engle Street, Englewood

Join Englewood Health Foundation for the virtual Walk for Awareness event on Oct. 24th. The Foundation will broadcast live from the Englewood Field Club & Memorial Park in Fair Lawn as you get in on the action from wherever you are. Funds raised will aid The Leslie Simon Breast Care and Cytodiagnosis Center to provide diagnosis and treatment to uninsured and underinsured patients who otherwise could not afford care. RSVP here.


The Little Play Co.’s Bubbly, Beads & Botanicals for Breast Cancer Event

Stop by The Little Play Co. for the Bubbly, Beads & Botanicals for Breast Cancer event on Oct.26th at 6:30PM. There will be a DIY succulent station, custom beaded bracelets, food, drinks, and a silent auction. Proceeds will support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Pink Gala Affair

Ariagna Perello Civic Organization will host the Pink Gala Affair Breast Cancer Awareness Award Ceremony on October 29th at 8PM. The event will be held at The Boulevard located at 3167 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Bergen. This year they will be honoring breast cancer survivors. Your donation of $80 will include dinner + dance. Although Sangria will be provided, there will be a cash bar where drinks can be purchased separately. Proceeds of this event will be donated to local breast cancer organizations. RSVP here.
