state street grill

Start the day at Bloomfield’s State Street Grill on State Street. It is located near the corner of State Street + Liberty Street. As many New Jersey residents know, diners have a special way of serving breakfast all day long. State Street has an option to order eggs in any style. Eggs are served with breakfast potatoes (potatoes can also be swapped for french fries), + a choice of toast with butter or jam. Eggs in any style are $6 on State Street’s menu. For those looking to add some veggies, peppers + onions can be added to the breakfast potatoes for an extra $2.

Activity #1: $19

varitage beer

Stop by Varitage Brew Works for a pint or two and catch a soccer game + a brewery tour. This brewery is a newly added establishment to the Bloomfield Center area + is about a five-minute walk from State Street Grill. The spot is typically open from Thursday to Sunday, but soccer fans should check the website. If there’s a big game on, Varitage will likely open its doors in addition to its regularly scheduled operations. Beer enthusiasts can also learn a little more about Varitage with a tour of the facility. Varitage is happy to accommodate if possible for tours upon request. Pints vary in price but the Open Header beer is $7 for a pint (16-ounces). Leave with a souvenir for the day by purchasing one of its beer glasses. Most glasses are available for purchase for $5.

Lunch: $16

tacos la gringa

Grab lunch at Tacos La Gringa located on Bloomfield Avenue. This stop is about a three-minute walk from Varitage Brew Works. There are a variety of options for tacos in the $12 price range including carnitas, chicken, steak, pastor, + chorizo. Tacos are made fresh to order. There is space inside to sit at the counter and eat, or diners can travel downstairs where tables and chairs are available.
